Hi Mike, The previous owner (a well established original forum member) stated that he had carried out exhaustive checks before committing to purchasing the rack (from yet another forum member) and was informed by Patriot that very early 'prototype' models were not serial numbered at all but in all likelihood it is genuine. To be perfectly frank mine has done the rounds, is very old and is 'made of girders' and there is no serial number to be found anywhere. I do not need a lifetime guarantee as it is so well made it will be around long after I am gone. If somebody has gone to so much trouble to rip off your design and trade name they have indeed done a damn fine job and you've some serious competition, which I doubt! Any inspection welcome! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I have not looked for a serial number, but mine is engraved with Trek Overland on the back section - although it has Patriot along the sides in larger lettering. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

Seems a common trend forming here......
Whilst you're at it consider trebbling the size of the serial number and painting that too in a dayglo luminescent colour of your choice with a couple of LARGE stickers with 'Your serial number is located here" emblazoned on them perhaps? Oki Doki - I have just spoken to Paul and the REALLy early ones had no serial numbers, the first batch that had them would have them stamped inside the rear frame corners (which was for us to confirm in the event that the rack came back under warranty) however, you guys that have had your racks for many years may need to remove them to find them (which we all know will be hard work/impossible given the time that the fasteners have been in there)
All this being said, we know our racks, we know there's nothing out there like them and we will always honour the warranty in the event of a problem so no need to panic if you can't find it |

No panic but reassuring nevertheless! I seriously doubt if you've had any 'justifiable' warranty claims anyway as they're so well-made? OK they may 'weep' a little from the fasteners as they get older but a quick trip to the powder coaters to get it stripped, dipped and recoated ready assembled is a lot less bother than quipping and going to unecessary hassle.
Fantastic product from a third hand owner without a serial number! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! Last edited by K9F on 17th Apr 2014 1:48pm. Edited 1 time in total |

But what about those of us that don't want a powder coated rack? I like the nice ali finish that ages nicely with the car. The ali of the rack sits nice against the Blue D3 I had and now the grey 110. 110 D250 SE HT

They don't do powdercoating in just black you know! Claim on the lifetime warranty or give it regular tlc if you're that fastidious or a coating of hard-wearing clear lacq!

A nice shade of 'Ali Au Naturelle' perhaps or a clear lacq as mentioned in my edit of last post?
