Yes I do! I think mass air flow through the engine is an important factor! The hole in the blank I believe is necessary to allow a calibrated leak across a Mass Airflow Sensor, thereby keeping your MIL light off. That said if you can increase mass airflow efficiency through the engine you should be able to reduce the EGR Valve blank hole size!

OK I am going to embarrass myself here.
I don’t know 
When I got it back I noticed right away that it had a rough engine note but did seem to have more guts. However when I tried to put BAS back in it would not go so I knew it had been done. Swivel seal went with in 1k so it had to go back. By then I had figured out it was doing about 2-3mpg worse (with or without tune). When I spoke to the service manager and asked what had been done to the ecu he just said “has it?” and “How do you know we had done anything” So I said because of the way it drives and how much fuel it uses. He said the wasn’t aware of the download but would get back to me but never did. Oh and I also get fault codes on there now but no mil light. Is there a way of finding out which one was downloaded? not a complete contradiction in terms with this?.....
You won't consider fitting a blank that can be reverted back to standard in a matter of 10 minutes or so but did have a BAS remap? 
Short answer is 'No!' Only by asking them. If your vehicle is now running so badly go back and insist they reload the latest software in it's entirety. I had a similar problem with my remap reload post an EGR Valve replacement and 'software upgrades/rewrite and am still waiting for Autologic to get round the added gremlins in Land Rover's latest software. Anyway my 110 is completely standard. Apart from the BAS tune, oh and the auxiliary electrics, yes and the 8.5” wheels  , and the tyres (but they go with the wheels. Oh and yes there is that HD bumper but that’s ok, I think? Does the roof rack count? Steering guard also but I need that. And the only reason I have that wheel carrier on is because the land rover one on the door is pants. I don’t think the Isotta steering wheel really matters. The security cubby box should have been fitted as standard anyway. Light guards goes without saying (front and back)
OK,OK so apart from those my 110 is completely standard. Have I missed anything? |

My point is that as with the BAS map you so deftly removed from your vehicle prior to going into the dealers, you can do exactly the same with the EGR Valve blank if you so wish. Using the notion of 'I don't want to give the dealers any excuse' is a little lame in the context of an EGR blank I think in this case.

Really boils down to laziness, taking the tune off and then back on is easy and has no risk of me swearing and throwing spanners across the garage, or being ordered by the wife to “go next door and apologise to the neighbours for my language” who happen to be self righteous ramblers who have nothing better to do with their time than complain just about anything especially if it has something to do with two planet killers I have sat in the front drive(sorry I digress). Anyway if it is really that easy even for a complete spanner spastic like myself then I may well give it a go. Bit more motivation building by you lot and who knows I’ll be doing my own services next. Reading back the above I think I may be in danger of getting old, “one foot in .... “ and all that.
I am still looking forward to more updates though so please keep it up guys.

That's why I posted the instructions with photographs on the previous sheet, to ensure the process is laid out for those not so technically acute, too lazy, or with Victor Meldrew tendancies. Fekete's giving it a go today and I asked him to let us know how he gets on! A word of caution if you haven't got chequerplate watch your wingtops. I stood on the bumper with my knee on the wing for better access. Shortar5e5 may have to get a box or two out to stand on. Neighbours.....Wait til they weed their borders and get a couple of handfulls of grass seed and throw it on their borders when finished. Get a spade and find a few fresh molehills....Catch a mole or two and take them home....Wait til dark, take moles and a dustbin lid onto neighbours lawn. Place mole under dustbin lid on grass, wait for two to three minutes, only one way for mole to go....Downwards. They'll be cursing for weeks.

The old mole thing made me think of Jasper Carrot, "only one way to kill a mole........." Sorry did I miss out checker plate on my list, oh yes more than you can shake a starting handle at! I studied the photo’s and it does as you suggest look very easy even for a simpleton like me. As I have said the feedback is, relevant, informative and interesting which is why I am enjoying the thread so much (couscous that I don’t post a lot on here). Boy |

Filled up with fuel today....With the 18mm EGR valve plate fitted, same journey as ever, driving like a go-kart (Fekete can vouch for that) I managed an increase in economy of 2.7 mpg.
I now have the 16mm plate fitted and will continue to monitor fuel economy just in case it may not be a trend caused by the blanking plate. Did surprise me though always fill up to the gunnels and managed 184 miles on this tank til it reached the halfway mark, never managed that before. It's finally fitted
...well to be honest it is easy... but you do get a little engine rash on your left wrist... you have to have a step to stand on for the job and lie all over the wings and engine...and if your like me do the job on your own cos if you have a mate there to help you, you will fall out NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY |
