Windscreen gutter
Was looking at the front of my defender yesterday and wondered if the gutter under the windscreen served any real purpose. I know when stationary it would stop rain running over/ behind the flaps but other than that surely it just generates wind noise at speed?

Thoughts on cutting it off please?

This reminds me of de-seaming the old minis. The seams were used to actually join the body panels together.

Not sure how much benefit removing the channel on a Defender would be, the overall aerodynamics of a Defender are so bad that a small change to this channel isn't going to make any difference.

Cheers

It also re directs any water that hits the windscreen away from the bulkhead foam seal.

I agree that whilst stationary the gutter does indeed stop water running into the seal, when driving into heavy rain at motorway speeds it does little to nothing. Would the bulkhead seal hold water - it seems to be made of foam? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

It is a common leak point... But if fitted correctly should seal according to LR
