Low battery immobiliser and double-horn
Hi all

I'm still trying to track down a double-horn sound ("beep beep") when I start up after the 110 has been standing unlocked for a while (doesn't happen after unlocking). I thought it was something to do with moving the OBD but today the battery was flat! I've barely been using the vehicle recently so the low battery may have been causing this problem? Any ideas - seems too much of a coincidence to me.

Does anyone know if there is some kind of "horn-warning" if the alarm-system/immobiliser is getting too little juice?

Beep beep is the sign to say the imobiliser on the 10AS has rearmed itself and you shouldn't be able to start the car without re-plipping the unlock.

Does this after a certain amount of time if the car is unlocked but the key is not turned in the ign.

If it beep beeps and you can just start it, that's weird Shocked

Oh crap - I hate weird Sad

Maybe the plip has a low battery Confused Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Just try something.

Put car in neutral

Put a piece of tape over the Alarm sensor

Put a window down.

Lock the car

Walk away for a minute or two

Without disarming the alarm lean through the window and try to start it.

It shouldn't start

Thanks - I'll try that later - it's "Ruhezeit" - "quiet-time" here at the moment so I daren't set the alarm off Rolling Eyes

Incidentally, I've changed the plip battery and I'm charging the main battery.

When you say low battery is shown through the alarm light, do you mean the main battery or the plipper - I get the solid light coming on when I switch on the ignition then the double-horn... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Think I have the answer...

The battery was almost flat so that explains the alarm light. The Scangauge comes on shortly after the ignition comes on and the OBD then draws 70mA current (so does a BAS interface), dropping the voltage more which MAY have triggered the 10AS to have a hissy fit.

Still not sure whether to do the OBD wiring again or just not use Scangauge unless to do diagnostics Confused
