Are you sure it's not the Gearstick rattle issue? No Guts, No Glory.

When you ran it up with the transfer box in neutral did it vibrate in 5th gear, as this is direct drive on the MT82, if it did you can rule out the gearbox. It would be worth getting someone to drive the car up in neutral and feel both front and rear propshafts to see if they are vibrating, also check if it does it in low range.

Thanks for the advice all, I will check the propshafts and UJ's though nothing modified on the suspension, also not heard anything before regarding gearstick rattle ?
When transfer box in neutral and in fifth gear it does rattle, what I did notice is that by dipping the clutch it stopped and letting it back out the rattle / vibration returned, also forgot last week that in low box 1st gear drive was erratic with rattle noise, though tried it this morning and it seemed OK, well it is a Defender I had the clutch replaced around 20,000 because of the rattling springs, which cured that and also I did have it in for the transmission brake binding a few times, which was sorted though since then I need to apply handbrake with more clicks than I would expect to hold vehicle. Well I took the 110 to the dealer during the week, and they accompanied me on a road test, could possibly be another clutch replacement on the books. It had a new clutch in around 20,000 miles which sorted out the clanging rattle whilst idling. The technician said there would have been uprated clutch's available since then, I did mention to him about the heavy duty clutch, though he did say that it would make the clutch pedal heavy to use
Also booked in for injector pilot learning, rear half shaft's replacement, rear diff pinion oil seal renewal due to a leak, and new side runner due to paint flaking off. Getting all this done before the warranty expires, must say my dealer have been excellent regarding any issue's and getting warranty work carried out Out of curiosity has anyone had the heavy duty clutch fitted, and what would be the benefits? Cheers Keith |

As far as I know there no such thing like a HD clutch for the Puma. I understand Porny is working on some of this HD clutch idea. Puma 110" SW
