Think clutch is a well know problem and they changed the design?
Search the forum, lots threads on clutches... Disco 3 gone but the memory of the bills remain... XS 110 Utility maybe one day..... (did they fix the quality yet?) |

I live in Dubai, which is in the middle east and Land Rover Middle East clearly states they do not cover the clutch but the clutch bearing should be covered I had mine replaced because one of the springs in the bearings came loose. '08 LR Defender 110

If your bearing is on its way out you can tell by pressing the clutch peddle.... when the clutch is pressed does your transfer lever stop rattling ? if so then the bearing is on its way out......and also if your under warranty and the clutch is playing up get them to replace it ...I've had 3 replaced under warranty NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY

Yes, there is indeed a known problem with the cluctch and they should replace it with the new spec clutch under warranty - they've replaced mine twice. www.ralton.co.za

Thank you all for the information.
I took the TSB-paper to the garage and this time they said that there was a well know problem and they have changed the design on the clutch and it will be on warranty They will change it the first week in june when they do the rest of the warranty work. Got my Defender back after one week at the dealer mechanics
Yes they did replace the clutch on Warranty, they also did more Warranty work: New heated windshield New CD-player New door sealings all around the vehicle New steering ball joint and some adjustments in the steeringbox Modified the air ventilation from the fuel tank New sealings lower side panels New Windshieldwiper motor and some brackets. They have also replaced the oil pan (new oil and filter included in the warranty work) New Brake vaccum pump They have also replaced the injectors earlier. My Defender is now running like a dream, when i turn the steering wheel the Defender now change direction and not only me but also my wife can change gears without any problem Land Rover Defender 110 SX Station Wagon 2007 |

Quick question - why did you have the wiper motor replaced, the reason i ask is mine seems more noisy that the older ones but they say its fine Just a note on the steering box, unless the rule has changed in the last 6 months (been like it for 10 years) Your steering box shouldnt be adjusted in the warranty period by a dealer it should be exchanged How many clutch revisions are they on now, im aware of 3 (1 = original, 2 = modified, 3rd current further modification?) I had 2 problems with the wipers, one was that the wipers didn't went back to its starting point when i turned off the switch, the other was that the wiper motor sounded like it was running very hard. Now it works perfect and the motor is quiet. I don't know exactly what they did with the steering box but they told me that they have done some overhaul and adjustments. I think the major problem was the ball joint, because now it has a really good respons when i turn the steering wheel. Land Rover Defender 110 SX Station Wagon 2007 |
