I had the same dilemma, and bought a Disco2 Fatdog light bar, just to lift them away from the bumper and "improve" the appearance... Click image to enlarge I personally prefer it... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

I saw a defender at the dealers yesterday with them mounted where I have them positioned. It had a steel bar which was secured to the bolts which mount the bumpers. They looked good.

Today I used mine to extracate a camper van off someones lawn in front of their house. They moved in a month ago, parked the Hymer on the grass and went to drive off and fpund it stuck. I couldn't get enough grip on the tarmac so ended up having to jack up the front, put blocks under the wheels so they would roll straight onto the driveway and gave it another go. Even though the rear wheels were sunk in it came out quite nicely. Not the sort of recovery that needed snatching or lots of tyre smoke
Click image to enlarge All done and dusted in 20 minutes, most of that time was spent getting the jacks out(trolley jack to start with to get underneath as it had sunk in a good 6") and finding blocks |

Lewis ... forum member "Myers" has a bar fitted thru the grille and spots mounted on that, it's a nice solution, can't find any photos but they are about the same level as A bar mounted spots.
The forecast was for a nice dry day today so the Ice was out and about on the road today for it's annual MOT, passed with no problems |
