Yep thats right, I bought a cheapo bracket that fits behind the tow bar on standard cars and modified it to fit repainted waxoyled and it's pretty neat, there is probably a better/proper fit but i couldn't be arsed to find it/pay for it/invent it......delete as necessary. I'll take a picture tomorrow

With the NAS step doesnt the socket go in the hole in the cross member??

Thats almost wha i did - the paint bit. At least thats how it should be which is what i wanted to check
If that were true the problem is the loom doesnt fit through and you would have to drill the mounting holes Mike |

The plug on mine definately didnt fit - it went through the square hole but not the round one at the back - no way the plastic lugs either side both prevented it Mike

It was too well sealed to ruin it by doing that...and then drill the cross member to put the bolts through and introduce corrosion?! Mike |

The round socket tis easy self tappers and sealant will be fine

I don't have a NAS bumper but the loom should easily fit through the hole in the crossmember.

So you all dismantled the socket end and fed the wires in?
Dont get me wrong i like it in there but didnt want to dismantle it and introduce corrosion in the crossmember by drilling it and ingress into the connection! Mike |

The bumper surely doesn't change things
If it still leaves the standard hole then you should be able to feed the socket through (takes a bit of a wiggle to work out the right angle  ).
I drilled the cross member and used rivnuts to secure the socket. You don't have a lot of room so make sure you get it right the first time. I didn't paint the exposed metal in the cut  and I used aluminium rivnuts in the steel cross member . Never mind, I'll need a new one some day anyway  One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS
