So far as I know it was fitted by the importer - I have a pretty good file of old records and cannot find any suggestion it was fitted later.
However, I did talk to a local mechanic friend (not a Land Rover enthusiast, nor a Webasto expert) who thought that all Webasto heaters were just to come on with the engine, so perhaps it was set up like that. Seems unlikely though as it is definitely switching on and switching the heater fan on from the timer unit in the cab. I have read through the Webasto thread on here, http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic14809.html and it seems like a low cost fix that is worth a try before I put in a new pump that I may not need, although it also occured to me that I should try reversing the car into its parking space so the webasto is on the ower side and seeing what happens then! That will have to wait until the huge pile of snow that fills half the drive at the moment has melted, though! Cheers, Mark |

That's the one! Thanks Glen - I have been working on other things (wacky electrical gremlins) today so have not looked at it again, but have the name of someone in the local off road club from a colleague. I am going to call him to see if he knows of a decent local auto electrician, so will add the Webasto diagnostics to that list.
Cheers, Mark |
