Rebuilding a 3.9L
Hey guys,

New to this forum, but have had my Defender since 2007. I met a guy in Florida last year that told me about this site. Anyway, it's a '94 NAS D90 POE (#1500) with a 3.9L V8. Since it has 130,000 miles, a blown head gasket, and just about every seal in the motor is leaking, I am planning on rebuilding it, or rather having it rebuilt. I know I have other choices in motor sizes at this point, but since it is a POE and (apparently) only about 65 were imported into the US, I'd like to keep it in the original configuration. Plus, I already put a new gearbox and transfer case. I'd like to keep this thing for a while.

So...I guess I'm asking for suggestions on things I should be aware of, or a certain type of gasket or bolt, or process I should use that are specific to this engine. Thanks!
Pete If I had all the money I spent on cars, I'd spend it all on cars.

Beautiful truck mate. Good to see you plan on doing the right thing for the truck.

Our company were stupid enough to sell ours after 5 years.

I wish all the best with her and I hope it brings you a lot of pleasure. ****CENSORED****

Yes, it looks like they do excellent work and can pretty much do anything you can dream of. Unfortunately, they are 1300 miles away. Plus if you want them to do something, I've heard that you usually have to wait in a fairly long line. Beautiful stuff comes out the other side though.

It is a fun truck. And around these parts (Wisconsin), there are VERY few of them. Other than a buddy's Series III, I've seen ONE in the seven years I've had it.
