United Kingdom 2013 Defender 130 Puma 2.2 SW Rimini Red
2011 Model Year Reclassification
All Defender derivatives are being re-homologated to N1 commercial vehicle classification in the UK.

The reclassification of the SW derivatives now means that all Defender derivatives are subject to the LGV tax rate which is £200 from the1st April 2010.

More to follow. 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

That's great news. Is there any way to get it retrospectively applied to a 2007 vehicle? One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS
+ New Defender 110 First Edition

Sounds great news, wish I had know two weeks ago so i could have delayed ordering my 110 XS utility wagon and got a 7-seat stationwagon instead Sad

How will that work with the 90? I can understand they can achieve it through 1-tonne payload, etc. on the 110, but I would think the 90 is more difficult to achieve.

Hey ho,
Harvey

This is good news for the VED!

I assume that if the vehicle variants (payload, axle heights front rear etc) are the same for 11MY as the other MY's for the PUMA, then the excise will be applied across the board for the 110 from 1st April onwards?

If so, for those of us who already have 12 mths tax, can we then return the disc, get a refund, and re-apply with the new rates applied?

Who in the government mother ship can tell us this?

Jammy. ignorance is bliss...

Its not that simple as date, LR have a character in the VIN to denote N1 classification, if your close to a cut-off you will loose out if your VIN is wrong.

I have wondered in the past what your chances were of getting it re-classified, or putting it through an SVA to get it re-classified - always seemed to much hassle to me.

Andrew - desperate for your new info Twisted Evil

Thinking of placing an order soon Whistle

Andrew

could you just clear up the title MY11. Presumably this applies to cars manufactured / bought next year?

I think they change "production run" mid-year, so currently since last June, or August or something they are building MY10 cars, this year they change to MY11.

Andrew is just teasing us I reckong Laughing

I reckon he might be right.....
there was some confusion before I bought mine at the LR dealership.........
In fact I think the broscure even suggested all 110 or 110XS were qualifying due to the hd springs and therefore heavier pay load?

Its confusing, as I understand it:

1Tonne payload = possible to reclaim VAT if you are a business.

N1 Classification = Commercial Road Tax (usually requires panel sides, or open back truck cab)

Not sure about the overlap, i.e. if a 90 that was previously not tax claimable due to under 1Tonne payload and M1 classification will now be, if its N1 stamped, assume if they are all N1 commercials now road tax is lower, but I thought rules for N1 stated its got to have panel sides (van) or be open back (truck cab).

I just want to see MY11 changes, does it have the new 2.2 Diesel? If its Euro 5 not Euro 4, it would lower road tax further!

Still no brochure from LR I ordered last week, either their just crap, or something is afoot.

I understand something is a foot !
My understanding is the 2.2 won't be around till next year and there's a face lift due?

all very exicting......

oh forgot to mention - I'm usually wrong.

Would not surprise me if there was an small update pre-2014 when the replacement comes, an engine change to lower emissions would make sense in my opinion to LR as a company.

Was going to possible pop to dealer tomorrow for chat on how much great big chunky discount he wants to give me, might need to wait a week (dealers often the last to know I find!).

funny that I'm going to the stealers tomorrow - doing a bit of an open day....

so I'll also be asking about the big discounts available - yeah right.

but like you say - they tend to be the last to know - often don't even realise until they've sold half a dozen. Shocked
