Cheers Steve, did not think you would be long , im going to Halfords tomorrow to have a look as I want more mid bass and better handling power as I take it the std LR speakers are only about 15 Watts each?
what do the STD LR speakers look like out? do they have a single cone or a built in tweeter as well? |

Single cone mate. No tweeter, and paper parts iirc. Just your bog standard factory fit speaker for most cars.
Wattage wise on any 10cm speaker you'll never get massive sound output but upgrading them from standard will still be an improvement by far. 13cm is the best way to go but involves dash cutting hence shy I have avoided doing that. If ever you want yo have a look see at mine or. Listen your welcome to pop by one day. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

Yes the mid bass is improved.m Just don't expect too muchon deep bass.
Mine are here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KENWOOD-KFC-S109...3a6a0999d8 A little cheaper now too. I paid 40 a pair which is still good. There is a new version with new grille design but I don't like it very much the new one is the S1094 these are the S1093. Power and spec are identical. And yep, I'm about Thursday. Meant to meet you at the Bath & West but that didn't work out in the end as I couldn't get there till late. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

Hi all,
Newbie here , my 110 wagon (300tdi) is devoid of any stereo and I am looking to get it sorted . My dear family bought me a new head unit (pioneer 6600 dab) and i have a few questions. 1) I will be fitting some new speakers in the front and was trying to work out how else to boost the sound. Someone has suggested I fit some rear speakers (eg 6x9) but I wanted to understand a)are there recommended off the shelf housings? B) do I fit them high up near the ceiling or down on the floor. 2) I was also thinking of a thin active sub and was going to see if I could mount it between the driver and passenger seat. Is this foolish? 3 head unit will be mounted in the usual standard unit. I had considered a raptor or MUD unit but will keep it simple. Like I said, total newbie. Any feedback welcomed Cheers Ian |

What do you have in between the drivers seat and passengers? A cubby? Or a tray? ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

You could mount an active sub there no problem.
You could even make a small box with a shallow woofer and amp for a passive set up if you wanted... (If you think it's a bit too complicated for you then it's probably best to stick to an Active sub install) Regarding the 6x9s I wouldn't mount them high up unless they are at the very back because of the loud sound so close to the ears.. I would think about the rear wheel arches in boxes, you can again make these or purchase off the shelf. BarbelJim has I nice little set up with these. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

Hi All,
I just wanted to run this past you, I am ready to order some bits for my 110 Puma - just waiting on postage costs to Australia, the image attached are the items. I am going to remove the rear bottom speakers and replace with 6x9 in the top back corners, I just need to make some kind of pod to hold them now, I also think I will need to get spacers for the fronts as I am replacing with slightly larger ones. I am hoping the tweeters are an easy replacement for the OEM ones also. I am also ordering a slimline sub, I have a fair bit of sound proofing on the floors but I have not done the roof yet which I will get to eventually, but I am hoping this will improve the sound a lot. I have a Phillips HU which is quite new and does everything I need it to so I am hoping this will be ok also. Do you see anything wrong with the parts I am about to order or would you suggest different speakers? thanks Pat. |

Pat - the Tweeters are 1" in size and not to bad to change, remember you can remove the little air vents each end of the dash too for easier access.
I had ideas before about mounting 6 x 9's above the back door in that panel but never got around it. MDF rings some fleece and fibreglass would be best I think. Needs to be light yet rigid and strong. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

Thanks Custom90Steve,
It turns out that the shipping is more than the speakers so I will have source some locally, it is hard to get the Kenwood splits in the size I want locally, and they do not sell the slimline sub over here, so I will need to find another brand. But I think my theory is sound in what I want now just need to research what brands. Back to the drawing board!! Cheers Last edited by patclan on 1st Feb 2014 12:08am. Edited 1 time in total |
