2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Java Black
Fine bush scratches on 110
I have recently gone green lanning with my black 110 Xs and it s paint work was 110% mint and very glossy

I have got fine scratches down the sides but then have just damaged the lacquer and left Matt effect scratches on the glossy coat


Paint is not damage but oh can I get theses out to restore

First try some good wax (turtle wax etc)

If that doesn't do it, try a gentle T-Cut?

I've found that a coat of wax before going out helps no-end and seems to protect the bodywork. Cheers, David

It was pretty well coated in autogym super resin polish before hand and I have tried using that but I still can see them Sad Sad

Polish tries to get rid of imperfections, wax does not. An engine to TDi for!

How about a fine lacquer pen? Something that is cleaned and adds the thinnest layer of Lear over it. I.e, LR's stupid touch up things are useless.

You need a proper cutting polish, AGR is more filler than polish,T-cut is good if you have some in the garage or try Farecla G3 Formula ( Halfords) or Meguiars Ultimate compound,to get the best finish you need to buy some micro fibre cloths (Asda Ł4 fer 6).You should also finish off with wax.Then dont go green laning otherwise your pi**in in the wind Thumbs Up . Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

Have a look at http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/

There are various anti-scratch / anti-swirl compounds available - you should be able to recover your paintwork, if you are not sure, they are very helpful on the phone lines

Nice site... I did not know there were so many products available. I'm not going green leaning it it no more so will want it looking its best. Is it best to hire a pro to do this compound paste method?

You can get good results by hand but it will take a while.If you wanna get ocd about it go over to Detailing World.
This is mine after a full machine polish (by me),it was originally ex Forestry Commission so you can imagine the scratches on it, does need looking after,but it keeps me outta trouble,lol.

I took in a Rover 75 I was selling which had scratches through the lacquer. 15 minutes later the effected panels were transformed without any hint of damage. Apart from being cheaper than buying compounds, polishes, tools etc etc. it took the stress away of possibly making things worse had I attempted diy.
