Yes, it usually appears then goes out.
A few months back I had my interior lights on for a while, although LED still for a fair while without the engine running whilst I was doing work on it. Next day went to go out, started perfectly but the battery light stayed on for a few miles of driving then went off. As far as I am aware it's detectable on voltage, when upto 14v or a smidge above it's goes out but if the voltage ais a little low due to discharge it comes I and stays on. Of course then it goes off after a short time. Anyway jist is it's a sign of lower voltage as far as I am concerned. ![]() β½οΈπ’οΈβοΈπ§°πͺ |

Lee, consider a ctek charger and swap between defender and ffrr, there's a group buy on disco3, you can leave them on for months

The battery light on the IPAC is part of a simple circuit that looks at the voltage that the alternator is producing, and if that voltage is to low it turns on the battery light on the IPAC. The battery light indicates a battery charging issue and not the charge state of the vehicle battery. If the battery light was on all the time the vehicle battery would lose its charge through use, as it is not getting a top up charge from the alternator

Cheers fellas
I've got the cetk charger from the group buy and use it on the FFRR every now and again. I've just got a second lead for it so I can connect it to the FFRR and leave just under the windscreen tray because if it goes completely flat you can't get in to charge battery to open it according to the FFRR forum and also got a panel/indicator connector for the 110 to fit on the side of the dash But it was just the slight delay of the battery light on start up that caught me eye this morning I might have been missing that it's always a second before it goes out I will check again in. Morning Lorryman do you think there's a problem with the slight delay ? No I don't think its an issue, just another defender quirk. But if it stays on for longer periods of time get it checked under warranty.

Colder weather plays a part in it too.
