110 fuel filler query
Is this normal?

I noticed today that the pipe leading to the tank is a bit twisted and doesn't sit flush with the outer rubber seal/ring. I have not noticed this before so can only assume that somehow the body and or tank have moved in relation to each other somehow. I see no reason why as I have not recently done any heavy off roading. My worry is that like this, diesel will leak out, in fact it was the drips down the side which alerted me to the problem. Does anyone have any advice? I tried moving the pipe underneath but everything seems pretty solid.

Went out and checked mine and it's not showing any signs of moving like yours & not seem any photos of similar movement.

Have you got to the bottom of the cause yet?

I have never heard of the tank or the pipe to it moving.

On another note, is that a rust patch and a hole appearing in corner of the recess?
Surely not!?

It'll be mud not rust as it's ally and if you look you'll find all those recesses have holes in each corner from factory Thumbs Up

There is a plastic moulding which has the filler neck which is loosely secured to the body, and then two rubber hoses (large filler hose and a smaller filling breather hose) which run down to the tank.

It is most likely that the plastic bit isn't properly located in the body panel. It is unlikely to be serious, but you may be able to adjust it quite easily.

it won't affect the sealing of the tank, since the cap seals onto the metal extremity of the filler neck.

I was at E H Douglas the other day dropping off a gearbox for my IIA and mentioned this fuel filler issue to them, they said it was nothing to worry about. Looks a bit cack though and I have no idea how on earth it has happened... 2011 110 USW

"they said it was nothing to worry about" - does that mean it's a simple fix and they will sort it or just mean they can't be bothered to look at it?

i took it as meaning nothing needed to be done, apparently the filler mouth is not attached to anything so it can move about. As long as diesel is not leaking I shan't worry too much, but will mention it when I go to the dealers next year. Warranty runs out in May so give it a good going over before then, I keeping a note of some leaks, paint cracks, rust etc. 2011 110 USW

Could it be somebody has been heavy handed in trying to force the fuel cap off?

Not necessary you.

If not leaking fuel just wait until it is next at the dealers.

or heavy handed with the pump handle? knocking the pump handle maybe when in the filler?

it is only a locator and doesnt seal anything.

try moving the pipe about where it sits in to the bottom rubber connector to correct the misalignment. Cheers

I have tried moving the pipe, no joy - it is quite solidly positioned. I can see no evidence of fuel leakage so I shan't worry too much. It may have happened when I ha to stretch the diesel pump a bit a couple of weeks back to full up but I don't see why, it wasn't exactly under huge pressure. 2011 110 USW
