Long range tanks 110
So, any advice? Experiences etc?

Thinking about swapping main tank to long range while having Webasto fitted.

All depends on what you want to do with your vehicle.

A replacement main tank will be about 120 litres, add on a flow through wing tank and you are at best part of 170 litres which will give you a range of up to about a 1,000 miles and almost second mortgage time when filling from empty.

Downsides? Apart from second mortgage at refilling time?

If you want to fit a MSS drawer do it before fitting main tank

Standard LR towing gear will not fit but 2" receiver will work OK

No aftermarket tank guard will fit with these tanks, we have ours double bottomed.

Standard LR towing gear will not fit but 2" receiver will work OK

Advantages

It does not impinge on departure angle.

Range? I do not even consider refilling below 600 miles,

Available in mild steel, stainless steel or ali.

They are also made local to us in West Yorkshire Whistle Thumbs Up

Brendan,

What is the cost of the 120ltr in Stainless Steel or Ali? Plus, how long does it take from order for either?

Thanks

The 120 litre in mid steel is about £500 and stainless steel is about £600.

Am not sure how much extra a double skin on the bottom is.

Have not got a price on the ali tanks to hand.

Will have to check with factory on availability but normally it is not too bad. However just remember quickly running up to the so called festive season.

It was a replacement main tank I'm looking at. However have since heard mixed reviews of the Safari tank, not being able to draw all the fuel from the tank etc...

Well, we use the 120 litre main tank on one of our vehicles. Getting the last drop of fuel out of the tank? Depends on position of pick up tube. Anyway do you really want to empty the tank completely? Personally I would try and avoid that for several reasons!

Epic, reading that Defendersource thread is interesting, yes but the tank they are talking about is designed for a 90 and the majority of them are fitting that tank to a 110 rather then using a 110 tank! Why? Especially as there are larger wing tanks available for a 110.
