not all that exciting but fitted the service kit supplied by AF.
not sure if I disturbed somewiring ie the turbo actuaor while taking the air box apart but having changed filters and oil its running so well. as I would expect it should. the sound at low(ish) rpm is so different to what I've been used to. It sounds like a loud boomie, growling induction noise ?? (I don't recall it sounding like that before). response and pick up in low revs seems sooo much better. the only other thing I've done recently is to wind the hand brake shoes right in so they don't rub until I can get round to re-building the drum with a new cable (again thanks to AF). so all in all I would say its been the best 70 I've spent on the car and investment of time....which as I'm sure you'll know didn't take very long at all. Its going to take alot longer to clean the oil off the drive ![]() ![]() |

Purchased new Lucas head lamp master and dip switches. Had that infamous NO HEADLIGHTS moment yesterday. Luckily it was just gloomy daylight and not dark. The hitherto considered pointless dim-dip jobbie did at least give the impression of headlights in the murk on the M4!
I think it is probably the master switch that has cooked but I am thinking the other may not be far behind. So.....steering wheel removal to look forward to then! ![]() |

Dust covers ![]() Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

The only redeeming feature of the useless dim dip idea is that when this happens you can short out the dim dip resistor (in RH wing on Puma, not sure on TD5) and get full power dip beam when sidelights are on. |

Just for info - i had this issue earlier in the year but it turned out that both dip elements on the headlamps had blown on the same day. Beam was OK and both light switch and dip/beam switch was OK. Most odd but it might be worth while checking the bulbs before you strip the switches out ![]() |

Just finished fitting a full set of RDX LED lights and their flasher relay. All very simple and straightforward and have to say that the quality is better than I was expecting! Particularly the connectors, which are far superior to those I've seen on Britpart lamp units in the past. Also fitted a VW 99 wiper relay whilst I had the instruments out, so now have variable intermittent, although not tried that out yet apart from to test its working. 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green
