If you have had it done by ANY licensee/installer no matter which you choose and they closed down, updates could not be done unless the business was sold to someone who would contiune support of existing sales and products. This is the same with anything for sale at all on the market really I suppose so is actually hard for anyone to answer any different.
Re dealer updates, generally the installer could and would install a new remap if needed at no extra cost if your dealer were to make a software update to your car. Pete |

Are you talking about using one of the remote interface boxes? So that you can have your vehicle 'mapped' via email?
If so, I'm not really a fan of this method without the use of addtional tools.... but obviously the choice is yours. The interface is tied to the reseller - and then once used is paired to your vehicle only. The boxes can be 'reflashed' but you can only ever have files from the initial 'reseller'. Regardless of all of this - my point referes to LR software (and it is very unlikely there will be any more 2.4 software updates)... You need to make sure you have the latest standard software on your vehicle before any modifications are made. There is no point having an outdated file on your vehicle modified. Over the lifetime of the 2.4, LR have released a lot of software updates/improvements - and you want this latest file on before you do anything. This can only be done using a dealer spec IDS/SDD system or an update to Blackbox Solutions Tool or Autologic. It cannot be done via the 'Atric' Box or any other tuning interface box. Then, once any changes have been made to a calibration (regardless if you have just updated the calibration or flashed the ECU with a uprated version) you MUST redo the injector pump learn and more importantly the pilot injection learn. This is critical to correct operation of the fuel system - especially on a common rail. Anyone that says otherwise does not have a full understanding of the Tdci set-up. But if you are just talking about the company as whole - then it is as above as per Pete has said. If additional tools arnt available or pratical to use with an off the shelf application device its not all grim, one could always build a self extracting diagnostic routine from one of the many used set up routines seen and used daily in SDD directly into the mapping tool interface flash software. DRIVE_CYCLE_L316_Fuel_System_Pressure, thats if of course one can extract the Exml file instruction set it uses into plane text as seen below
I do find it a shame JLR havent updated or made more user friendly a lot of their setup routines since 3 July 2007 as with the Fuel system pressure profile #2 : routine <profile_name> <tm> </profile_name> - <help_text> <tm> </help_text> - <pre_cycle> <state_model_process>STATE_VALUE_ENGINE_RUN</state_model_process> --> <stall_warning>FALSE</stall_warning> </pre_cycle> - <post_cycle> <completion_delay>10000</completion_delay> <state_model_process>STATE_VALUE_IGNITION_OFF</state_model_process> - <Matches> <create_log_file>TRUE</create_log_file> </post_cycle> <module>PCM_SYSTEM_A</module> <simulate_comms>FALSE</simulate_comms> - <SIMULATE> <module_sec_driver_level>2</module_sec_driver_level> <connect_session>EXTENDED_UNLOCKED</connect_session> <disconnect_session>DEFAULT</disconnect_session> - <signal_group> - <signal> <name>ESTIMATED_FUEL_RAIL_PRESSURE</name> <class>DISPLAY</class> <transform>TRANSFORM_ESTIMATED_FUEL_RAIL_PRESSURE</transform> <tm> </signal> - <signal> <name>DID_ENGINE_RPM</name> <class>READ</class> <service>0xF40C</service> <transform>TRANSFORM_DID_ENGINE_RPM</transform> <tm> </signal> - <signal> <name>DID_ENGINE_COOLANT_TEMPERATURE</name> <class>READ</class> <service>0xF405</service> <transform>TRANSFORM_DID_ENGINE_COOLANT_TEMPERATURE</transform> <tm> </signal> - <signal> <name>DID_FUEL_RAIL_PRESSURE</name> <class>READ</class> <service>0x050D</service> <transform>TRANSFORM_DID_FUEL_RAIL_PRESSURE</transform> <tm> </signal> - <signal> <name>ROUTINE_FUEL_RAIL_PRESSURE_TEST</name> <class>WRITE</class> <service>0x1670</service> <transform>TRANSFORM_ROUTINE_FUEL_RAIL_PRESSURE_TEST</transform> <tm> </signal> </signal_group> - <profile> - <Control> - <timebase> <duration>300</duration> <sample_interval>200</sample_interval> <time_points>000,010,020,030,040,050,060,070,080,090,100,110,120,130,140,150,160,170,180,190,200,210,220,230,240,250,260,270,280,290,300</time_points> - <1> </timebase> - <signal> <display_minimim>0</display_minimim> <display_maximim>8000</display_maximim> <value_points> <limit_1> <limit_2> <limit_test_bounds_failure> </signal> - <signal> <display_minimim>20</display_minimim> <display_maximim>130</display_maximim> <value_points> <limit_1>95, 115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115,115</limit_1> - <t> <limit_2> - <limit_test_bounds_failure> <action>CRITICAL_STOP</action> <tm> </limit_test_bounds_failure> </signal> - <signal> <display_minimim>0</display_minimim> <display_maximim>120</display_maximim> <value_points> <limit_1>X, X, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 90, X, X</limit_1> <limit_2> - <t> - <X> - <limit_test_bounds_failure> <action>RECORD</action> <tm> </limit_test_bounds_failure> </signal> - <display> - <signal> <display_minimim>0</display_minimim> <display_maximim>120</display_maximim> <value_points>000,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,000,000</value_points> - <t> <limit_1> <limit_2> <limit_test_bounds_failure> </signal> - <signal> <display_minimim>0</display_minimim> <display_maximim>120</display_maximim> <value_points>000,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,000,000</value_points> - <t> <limit_1> <limit_2> <limit_test_bounds_failure> </signal> - <alternatively> - <transform> - <read> <data_type>unsigned</data_type> <resolution>0.25</resolution> <offset>0</offset> <unit>RPM</unit> <size>16</size> <shift> <mask> </read> <write> </transform> - <transform> - <read> <data_type>unsigned</data_type> <resolution>1</resolution> <offset>-40</offset> <unit>C</unit> <size>8</size> <shift> <mask> </read> <write> </transform> - <transform> - <read> <data_type>unsigned</data_type> <resolution>0.0078</resolution> <offset>0</offset> <unit>MPa</unit> <size>16</size> <shift> <mask> </read> <write> </transform> - <transform> - <write> <data_type>unsigned</data_type> <resolution>128</resolution> <offset>0</offset> <unit>MPa</unit> <size>16</size> <shift> <mask> </write> </transform> - <transform> - <read> <data_type>unsigned</data_type> <resolution>0.0078</resolution> <offset>0</offset> <unit>MPa</unit> <size>16</size> <shift> <mask> </read> <write> </transform> </profile> </drive_cycle> |

You could just come me I have a full dealer level diagnostic kit....
Any company that offers any tuning updates should have the correct kit to do this in my opinion - but a lot of them dont Ian IRB The home of the first modified Keswick Green 90 - and the first 2.4 Puma through both the 200bhp and 550Nm barriers. www.IRBdevelopments.com www.facebook.com/irbdevelopments www.integrated316.com www.facebook.com/integrated316 |

Ian
thanks as you are local and clearly LR knowledgeable I already had you in mind for my 3 yr service and all other transmission fluids changes (assuming you do that type of thing) wont be until March/April and after its 3yr MOT and a few more warranty jobs that the dealers can sort. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS, I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

On reflection, different mapping for different needs is where LR may have made a few more sales.
The Discoveries & RRs have a space shuttleload of maps & modes. All the Defender needs is for an owner with an ECU Defender to be able to choose more power &/or torque. Other manufacturers do offer alternatives, also axles etc to go with them. Had LR done this already, I would have had one when I bought mine, & it was still in warranty. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. I agree with you Tiger. Ian at IRB does know his stuff.
I travelled 450 miles to see Ian and Ada. A great experience. They pulled out all the stops to get my 110 finished in time. The difference is amazing. Cheers |

Was at home over the weekend (Netherlands) and had mine chipped by Rica in Wateringen. Outstanding service and it all worked! Nice to be able to use the iSoftloader to put it back to factory settings and to be able to upload the tuned settings... Good value and quality! www.j33per.net
