Low budget, low tech, higher torque?
How greatly would something as simple as an air filter upgrade, to a brand such as Green improve engine performance & response.

What I'm after is getting to max torque rpm faster. More torque overall would be nice, but remapping is too OTT a consideration, so I'm looking for low tech solutions or just getting to the OE max by easier engine speed increase better. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. IMO a waste of time and no gain to be had in any way really. OE filter is tried and tested so I have no reason to ever change. Similar to the snorkel issue but in that case there it is more justified with a filter you are pretty much swapping like for like but with a snorkel it serves a few purposes. KEEP CALM AND Drill ON

Forgot to mention, how about putting a straight through centre silencer? That will give you a performance increase KEEP CALM AND Drill ON
