I'm following the fuel use and km for over 4 fill ups now and I'm getting 37MPG. I corrected that with 10% due to deviation in Km measurement and it is still 33.7 MPG on average. I only drive it around locally and it has a 200tdi. It's better than what I expected. Scaling the real deal.

I don't add 2 stroke. But it the previous owner fitted a K&N sports filter which may help a bit. I have read on disco3.co.uk that filthy air filters will decrease MPG significantly.

My thoughts on 2-stroke is that i'm unsure about it. I'm still waiting to read a scientific research/paper on this topic. But I can see how it would help to lubricate the injector pump, but other than that I still don't see how it would help.

Although there is a great thread about it on freel2.com: http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic878.html?highlight=2+stroke+oil Scaling the real deal.

Finally got around to properly measuring the mpg of my 300tdi. Lowered springs, bfg road biased tyres, egr blanking plate, de cat, elec fan, discovery gear ratios and a bit of 2 stroke oil.

Driving sensibly but mainly local roads, 348 miles from brimmed full, took 44.22 litres to return to brimmed full. That equates to a staggering 35 mpg which I'm really pleased with.

That doesn't sound too bad i have never owned a 90 tdi but have had two 300tdi disco's one a manual and the other an auto the manual was giving me between 30-32 mpg and the auto gave me between 35-38 mpg so if i get a 300tdi defender 35ish mpg would be great Smile Graham

My200tdi is similar to that - the average commute is 24-28mpg.

A decent motorway run, sat at 65ish will get me just into the 30s.

'98' CSW 300tdi and averages 24-28 on local trips mainly. Add 200-300ml 2 stroke every tank.

I presume you mean 'your' 110xs and not 110xs's in general ?
(I know mine is a 2.4 and I can get well over 30 - I wouldn't have thought the 2.2 to be that different?)
