British Gas keep sending me letters saying how cheap it would be if I bought both my gas and electricty from them.
The nearest gas main is three miles away! |

Not only that but theres creepy location services that are enabled by default, which also empty the battery quicker than a Defender goes through diesel.
Settings > Privacy > Location Services > then scroll all the way to the bottom >System Services. Diagnostics and usage, Location based iAds, Popular near me, Traffic and Frequent locations all went straight off! That 'frequent locations' one, with the description 'Allow your iPhone to learn places you frequently visit in order to provide useful location-related information'... Just no! |

BT Infinity? You must be joking in our village, there is no chance of that happening here whilst there's a sun in the sky. And yet, what was on the mat this morning? Another "Sign up to BT Infinity!, even though the flyers are done by a third party, come on! I was supposed to have had my broadband upgraded to unlimited use yesterday from the basic one with a 10Gb limit, with the upgrade I'm supposed to get speeds from 10mb to 19mb, I'm still waiting, we usually get just under 1mb. A mate of mine who is a bt engineer tells me that the best I can expect is 5mb so I can see another phone call coming up!

Re. iPhones .... I'm still on a 3Gs... iOS7 not available, but will soon be getting my other half's cast-off 5 when he gets his 5s. Must say I'm not so keen on the new 'look' - far too Androidy!
My Grump for the Day! Just found out that I'm going to have to fork out an unexpected extra £1993 for my Carnet de Passage for our Australian trip. Puts a bloomin bit dent in the contingency budget! Last 2 times we shipped to Australia the RAC (who are the only UK agent who issue Carnets) accepted a Bank Guarantee as indemnity against non return of the vehicle to the UK. That Bank Guarantee cost us £125 from Barclays. However, in January 2013 the RAC had a 'business review' and decided to no longer accept Bank Guarantees. Instead you HAVE TO pay them for the Indemnity Insurance. For our vehicle this will cost £1550 up front (half to be returned on return of vehicle to UK), plus an additional £93 Insurance Tax, PLUS another (seemingly random) £350 'refundable deposit' (again returned on return of the vehicle to the UK). OK we get £775 and £350 back in September next year, but we still have it to fork out the full nearly £2k before shipping in December. That's my Christmas money (and more besides) gone. No Christmas Tree this year, No Free Range Norfolk Black Turkey. Bah Humbug ! Feeling very cheesed off with the RAC. It is obviously a good way to make money. Naughty, naughty PamW! Less off the negative vibes.
Think of it as an enforced DaveW savings plan. He will have an extra £1k to spend on your Christmas present in 2014 Brendan PS is this where I scurry off into a corner to hide with my tin hat on? |

.....I've just spent the evening re-jigging our finances for the next 4 months to try and find an extra £2k from somewhere. I even checked under the mattress!
Did, however, do a Compare the Meerkat thing for Dave's Range Rover (renewal due early December) and found that he can get it insured for £168, rather than the £355 paid to Adrian Flux last year. Also listed were FluxDirect at £250.... Not sure whether to laugh or cry.... I'm going to try and find a new insurer for my 90 too .. Due in early January when it has already shipped to Oz ...not paying Adrian Flux top whack for a whole year when it is going to be out of the country for about 9 months of it !!! Issuing Tin Hats to everyone... I may be 'off on one' for some time.... Our blog - http://landytravels.com/ Yorkshire Off Road Club - http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net |

Away in the tin tent and had a cunning plan to watch downton abbey on itv player. How come I have enough band width to watch the adverts but can't watch the programme. Cynic in me asks if I subscribed to he premium version would I suddenly have enough? Well StuffIt I will go back to my book and the radio.

Well for the seond time a courier firm which have brown vans and a shiled on the side have made a delivery from a site sponsor, I'll not name them, and for the second time they have managed to damage an over protected item with in the box.
The last time they bend 3/8" steel chanel into a 45 degree angle, when the couried examined the damage they said the was fragile WHAT! I wouldn't give this courier firm a rubber ball to transport without fear they would cause damage to it. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

Now, why did he had to be so rude to me while I stopped for him at a zebra crossing?
He ought to know I would get fined 360 euro if I didn't. Elderly people... |

Why oh why are the people employed to take packages from one person and deliver to another the most inept people we have in the country? They even rival the politicians for delivering the goods! Twice this week I've had to go to the Post Office to collect parcels, the first marked the card that he attempted to deliver at 1:30pm, funny that I picked it up off the mat at 1:15pm. The person thingy at the PO desk said "Perhaps he didn't have a watch" and walked off! The second was yesterday, "Too large to post through letterbox", hmm, the open window next to the door was probably unoticable. Still, it's not as we don't have more important things to do but wait for them to stroll along when they feel like it

PLEASE, PLEASE do not get me going about couriers!
Try couriers ho send stuff to Korea to get to west Yorkshire from New York USA. According to my geography from New York to Korea is in the opposite direct to New York to West Yorkshire! Try left a card one day. NO you haven't! Following day, no such address left! Errr excuse me how come you managed to leave a card at an address which does not exist! Then there are the couriers who pick up 6 pallets in Australia, land 6 at LHR but can only manage to deliver 5 in the UK. How about couriers who send a pallet from Germany to Halifax via Northampton, to Peterborough to Northampton, to Germany to Northampton to Halifax. Errr excuse me those goods are damaged by a careless fork lift truck driver!!! Then there are couriers who lose a package for 3 weeks! Err yeah that package has slipped down the back off the drivers seat! Only problem it is just short of 3 metres long! Brendan |

Uk mail couriers for me today, waited all day yesterday and nothing. Next a card was left you were about according to the TC (there is no card left!)
All this at nearly 7pm which is frankly idiotic and now toady I've been waiting and still nothing and doesn't even say out for delivery. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |
