Mantec Rear Window Guard - Rivet or Screw
For those of you that have installed the mantec rear window guard did you rivet or screw it. The kit comes with screws but I'm wondering if rivets may be more secure and not rattle lose?

I screwed and glued (lock tight) mine, as the rattling was epic. Not anymore though!! Very Happy Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful!

Cheers, good timing I'm just about to install mine. Didn't realise they rattled. Did you just glue the screws or did you glue or seal anywhere else?

I screwed mine and it took about two and a half years before it started to rattle. With mine I tweaked a few of the mesh bars with a screwdriver to slightly "kink" the panel which took out rattle quite successfully.
I used tech roofing screws for mine as I had a box left over from a job plus they've got a rubber washer that may or may not help with vibration rattles.

Thanks, I have plenty of rubber washers so may give them a go. I didn't want to rivet mine either as I wanted the flexibility & ease of removal.

Another vote for tech screws here, fitted our MSS rear window guard using those. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

Just keep an eye on the length of the tech screws Whistle You only want thrm to go through one layer of the door Whistle

I've seen tech screws but never used them. So, how do they work then do they screw in lke a self tapper or do they have a nut on the back? Thumbs Up 2007 Defender Puma Tonga Green

They screw in like a self tapper and have the bonus of being self drilling so no need for a pilot hole. What I have done before now is use one to drill the hole, don't let it go full depth of thread if you're not sure of clearance, take it out and use a cut down one to fix your guard/whatever in the freshly drilled hole. You can often drill 4 to 5 holes with one screw and I've taken my guard off a couple of times and reused the original screws
