Camping de alet, Portsmouth ferry is the easiest route or drive down its not that bad really, may be awkward booking something now though Thumbs Up 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8

Heading to l'anse de brick in Cherbourg , apparently the prettiest campsite in France . This Wednesday with a stop at Heathrow to pick up the misses and kids from Tbilisi .
Some of the kit for the roof

Hey Keith
I've just come back from a 2 week stay at L'anse du Brick and as campsites go you won't find better. Right beside the beach - great facilities and beautifully landscaped. The surrounding area i.e. Cotentin peninsula is lovely too. We were blessed with sunny weather so it felt like the South of France but without the searing heat. Enjoy ! Thumbs Up

I haven't sorted through pics yet as they were taken on a phone, camera and tablet but there's a couple in my gallery.
We brought the kids bikes but they didn't use them much. the site is on different levels with quite steep roads and anyway the lure of the swimming pool and beach was too tempting. There is a forest right beside the site but its more mountain bike type tracks as far as I could see.
The beach is about three mins walk. The two pools and water slide are excellent. The onsite restaurant is also very good and not that pricey ( the bar is pricey however ) We went there 3 times in the two weeks. Facilities were top class and there was organised activities for the kids ( although we didn't bother with them)
Best supermarket was Carrefour in St Pierre L'Eglise (and cheap diesel at € 1.28 L but its a card only pump). One thing I can recommend is a visit to Barfleur. Its a fishing village with lots of harbour restaurants If you're into seafood their moules frites (mussels + chips) about € 8 for a mountain of them are to die for.
I hope the weather holds mate Thumbs Up

I used the new frontier stove and water boiler for cooking and it is a great piece of kit . 4 stretcher beds in the wolf command post 9x9 with the door tied onto the roofrack as an awning .
Portsmouth - Ayrshire in 7hrs .80mph , 120L fuel at £1,50 L .
