Fitting engine start (& stop) button(s)?
How easy would it be to have a dash mounted engine start button. Ignition would be turned on & stay on with the key , but the engine start would be by pushing the button. As for motorcycles & some cars. Not sure if the cars have kill switches, or if the ignition would still need turning off to do so. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

Why not just park your car with the door open & keys in the ignition in a car park in Liverpool! Same result! Cheers, David

Don't see why it couldn't be done, but I'd guess you'd need to make security your number 1 priority then! It's bad enough anyway! Cheers, David

He still wants the ignition to be key operated. So no less secure than it is already.

i fitted one to my range rover classic a few years ago, it was real easy to fit, i would recommend fitting a good quality one the cheap ones don't last very long

Buy a Series I Laughing

I do find it amusing that the "engine start" button is back in demand, technology had moved on to key start Wink  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Technology now seems to have moved beyond key start, which is why a button is again needed. I recently had an Evoke on loan and the 'key' stayed in my pocket as there wasn't anywhere to insert it in the car.

Perhaps a button will eventually be replaced by thought control Laughing Darren
