'Hiss' from new amped speakers
I've fitted some 6x9s in the rear of my 110, with an amp (both halfords)

The 6x9s only (other speakers are not amped) hiss all the time a little. It's most noticeable when the music is off but power on (amp stays on for 10-15 sec after IGN is switched off)

Anyone reccomend a common fix or likely culprit? Cheers, David
Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8.

the cable routing isnt particularly tidy now you speak of it - a couple of joins and runs up B pillar, past alpine lights and down rear window trim to speakers. Could joins etc be a problem? Cheers, David

'Joins' can indeed be a source of interference. They need to be well-made, preferrably soldered and subsequently insulated. Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

As Mal say's above. If there is any power cables and signal cables mixed together that isn't good either try and separate them as best you can. Thumbs Up $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Short earth on the amp is a very good idea but will not help if your problem is on the speaker output side of it. Do check both areas mentioned. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I think it's most likely to do with Amp to speaker rather than primary power but could be wrong. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

We use at work a Public Address sytem on the vessels with four TQA amplifiers supplying over 120 speakers with 6 auxilliary inputs plus a cascade system with descending 'priority' starting at the Captain's microphone . Trying to find the source of interference on that can be a proverbial nightmare. 9 times out of 10 it'll be a speaker dragging or degrading the system down.
If you still have your old speakers disconnect your fitted speakers and try connecting one of the previously removed directly to the back of the amp if convenient, this will give a good pointer perhaps where your problem lies. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
