MSS or Mantec rear window guards?
Hi,

I'm after a pair of the rear window guards for the 110, however, I am wondering if anyone can share any knowledge as to how much drilling is required for fitment? On the MSS site it states that pre-existing fittings are used to secure said guards and can't for the life remember how the Mantec ones were fitted in my G4 USW.

Any advice as always would be grately appreciated.

Hi Matt,

Cheers for the quick reply. Do you know if any drilling to the body itself is required or just through the trim?

Apologies for the bone question! Thumbs Up

i only fitted the one rear window guard on the door as its a usw and drilled 10 holes, 4 up each side and 2 at the top around the glass frame. i would have thought the rear quarters and side window one would be the same but dont know for sure, if they were only in the trim they would have no strength LIFE`S TOO SHORT TO DRIVE A BORING VEHICLE

I thought exactly that regard the fitting to trim only, however, on Mantec's website the photo seems to show at least the top fixing points to attach to the trim. I don't know what's behind the trim as I haven't looked (yet) to see what the guard could attach to vehicle body wise.

Cheers again for the info, I do remember the rear window guard on my G4 USW having screws into the door body.

I have the Mantech/G4 ones in mine they were already fitted when I bought it. The top of them screw to the trim as said above but the bottom the bolts go through some box section, which you slide in some threaded metal plates. I guess you have to drill the holes. Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful!

Cheers for the info Thor, much appreciated. The ones in my old USW were Mantec prototypes and it being a USW I guess we're/are different than the SW variants. I guess it's just down to the make / style I buy now!

I have the MSS guards in my 110 and really rate them. If you are interested I can post up a selection of photos I took when installing the guards?

Incidentally the interior style guards are awesomely useful when camping/overlanding...

I have the MSS ones but can’t work out if you need to remove the rear seatbelt brackets in order to fit them, or if they go on top. I can’t get them to fit either way. 1989 90 4.3 V8
