It's the humidity (ie rain) causing condensation on the windscreen. I thought the heated windsreen would clear it, but no joy at all. |

sorry only joking - humidity in a land rover - what ever next
on a serious note have you checked the connection to the screen to see if any electrical output sometimes it may simply have come loose good luck 2020 P300 HSE |

If you have a multi meter you could try a continuity test, on my old TD4 Freelander had the same problem and it was the spade connector plate which was soldered to the window had come off, though I didn't notice it until I looked at it more closely, anyway the garage said I would need a new rear windscreen, so I fixed it myself with some conductive epoxy resin all sorted for about £5.

Hi
I'm still planning on sorting out my non-functioning heated windscreen but my need for a new starter motor took priority for a while... Anyway, can anyone kindly confirm which is the relay fpr the heated windscreen under the seat, and what the part number is so I can order one? Lastly, where's the best place to get one? Many thanks Mike |

Presumably you've stuck a multimeter between the purple wire and earthed to the body? Sorry if I missed something... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Okay, I've bought a simple multimeter and tried it out. I get approx 14V on the passenger side end when the switch is on. Oddly, I get nothing on the driver's side end. A continuity test across tbe screen gives nothing and so presumably this indicates that there is a break in element in the screen?
If there is a break, that's a shame because I've just had the dealer repair the windscreen surround under warranty, which included resealing the screen. I guess the only way around it is a new screen [reaches for hammer]? At least I've learnt the basics about using a multimeter! |

Not necessarily a new screen at all.....
If you can identify where the break is and if it's on the element you could try this....Worked for me in the past.... http://www.granvilleoil.com/product_info.php?prod_id=5 If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! I've got a pretty good dealer and they still broke 5 elements when reinstalling the screen
So with the engine running, the switch on, the passenger side (+) screen wire connected and the driver side (-) disconnected, when you connect the multimeter between the driver's screen connector and earthing to a frame bolt (not using the connecting earth wire as this could be the fault) you get absolutely nothing? *edit* Do you mean the front windscreen? In that case the elements are buried in the glass and can't be repaired Tell someone you love them today because life is short. If I connect the meter as you suggest above I get absolutely nothing. There is a live feed and the earth works okay (I get 14V when I connect across them with the meter).
There is a small chip in the windscreen but presumably this would only knock out one or two elements at worst? It also wasn't the recent warranty work because it stopped working before this was done. Mike |

It really does sound knackered then - there must be a major break somewhere
As K9/schuee suggest, if either of the connecting tabs is broken/come unsoldered, you can do something. Otherwise Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Good day, mates!
Has anyone met such a problem? Click image to enlarge The left side of the windscreen doesn't warm properly... A part remains cold even after some time... The heating strings are OK, nothing torn/broken or smth Is it possible to fix somehow or to replace only? |

Update
It turns out my windscreen had failed because of water leaking onto the contacts from through the LH corner of the windscreen. I've had the corrosion finally repaired under warranty, and this included having the windscreen replaced. D'Marique, I'm afraid my screen went from fully working to fully not working. Sounds like some of the elements in your screen aren't getting any current and sounds like a replacement job. Cheers Mike |
