Dead write, It was all or nothing. If you got it wrong at the lights you were waiting for the bang or road rage.

It baffles me that every one connected with the tuning of these vehicles seems to think that intercoolers add HP, is anyone able to explain why they do in this application? (i know how a intercooler works but never seen one add HP)

The cooler you can get the intake the the more dense it is so more power, just try driving an intercooled engine without one and you will see how much they do Thumbs Up and then you will appreciate what a larger one will do for power

I drive a S3 as my fun toy (far too boring a sterile tho insanely fast) which is a 2.0 Tfsi unit which obviously intercooled. The stock cooler as seen as the week link in archiving big power. When going to stage 2 & + heat soak sets in massively with the ECU retarding the power back to save damage. If this is replaced with units from APR or the Forge Twintercooler there is no HP or Torque gain to mention but boost is held for longer and stronger.

I accept these are two different applications from different engines but surely the same principles apply?

Getrag Ford transmissions are working on a Powershift® Dual clutch transmission for AWD, so maybe just wait untill they have that finished? It would probably be the easiest way of modying since they've built the current one in the Puma TDCI also.

That's my guess atleast Rolling Eyes

80 bhp is a good power gain if it can be done, but I dont know if you need to go down the clutch modification path. A LandRover clutch can handle some very hard work as standard. I have towed boats etc all over a ton and a half in weight all over Western Australia with the vehicle fully loaded on the standard clutch on my Defenders without any problems. Even on the Subaru sti it was only in need of a modified cluch after a 2.5ltr modified engine pussing 240kw at the wheels was fitted. In most situations a standard clutch will cope. Also if you are using it for rock crawling, or low range work I think it would drive you nuts
