Possibly.....or a dodgy switch. Have you tried engaging and disengaging the difflock to see if the light operates accordingly? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Sounds to me like the switch, I had the same problem

Is the difflock engaging? I sometimes had that when I first bought mine, turned out the difflock wasn't engaging properly. It sorted itself out with use.

Just been out in it again, and if I engage the diff lock the light comes on permanently, if I disengage, the light flashes intermittently, so I guess it's the switch? 2008 TDCi 2.4 XS CSW

If the vehicle has been waxoyled that could be the reason. Try and exercise the switch a few times or clean it off....
