Just to updae, I've triple checked with QT and part A1050a is the one. It comprises the big guard and a smaller plate and 3 bolts. The instructions say part No. A1050k but this is a typo they say.
Fitting in a fortnight but looking forward to others photos of fitting in the meantime. I wish I had a mechanic's inspection pit! |

Pretty sure the rear one is the same as a P38 Range Rover.
Front one is easy to fit but the rear one took some effort. |

I fitted the rear diff guard last weekend. It's a monster piece of metal - in a completely different league to the stupid diff pan cover I've got on the front (front QT guard is going on tomorrow).
It was very straightforward to put together but there was a slight misprint in the instructions. They read: "Slide the guard into place and tighten the bolts" I think they meant to say: "Use all your force to virtually lift the Land Rover off the ground whilst simultaneously whacking the guard with a mallet to position it roughly in position. Tighten the bolts that you can now access". Still awesome though. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

It's a strange belief-changing experience taking delivery of a QT diff-guard. Prior to it you look at a diff-pan cover and think 'that looks substantial enough to me', and then suddenly there's a courier with a box that is several times bigger than expected, and immediately the diff-pan cover seems somewhat toy-like.
My front one went on without any drama, and just the rear to go - I'm hoping the 90 version isn't as exciting to slide into place as the 110 (although test fitting it in place shows the top connecting bolt to be in the same place as the break pipe, so could be exciting yet). The brake pipes don't get in the way to be honest. Just be careful when you're putting weight on the spanner to slacken the bolts, you'll find you're brushing the pipes with your arms.
The bracket for fitting the guard just slides underneath the pipes. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

Having problems getting mine on, the front QT is on but the small plate it comes with I do not understand. I see where if fits to the diff does it the go over the topof the diff and it to the front of the guard? I think it should do this but where the hole is in the end of the small plate the plate is bent 45 degree's, and thus does not marry up with the hole in the top of the diff guard!
The rear, can see where the plate goes but see how the diff guard its using the three bolts on the diff itsself. The small plate for the rear has no logical expanation to where it goes that i can currently see? ? any one got any pics? |

The small plate should fit to the front diff guard like this:
I can't help you with the back one sorry as the SWB is different to the LWB one, and I'm currently locked in a battle of wills with mine (it will go on, the guard just hasn't realised it yet). Peter 2008 SWB Truck Cab 1952 80" Soft top |

I just popped out and took some photos of mine. Excuse the quality and framing - it was pitch black.
From behind Looking back from rear near side. You can't see very well but I only managed to get one of the side bolts in From rear off side, looking back. You can see one of the three diff casing bolts. The outer two can easily be tightened. The middle one is a real struggle - I didn't manage to get it properly tight (you might have more luck with a 4/19th spanner rather than a ratchet. From rear off side. You can see the top bracket. To be honest - that was the easiest bolt You can also see the brakes and the fact that they're not in the way. Hope they help. I had to really brace myself under the guard and push up to get it located. I was also serious - a good repeated whack with a mallet helped (helped with the diff guard too ). Some folks have used a jack to force it up - not a bad idea. Mine was probably not helped by the coating of waxoyl. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |
