on a recent trip, another truck was running 2 satnavs, quite funny really (i think one was a TT and the other a garmin), they had separate ideas of how to get to the destination, really confused the driver ... probably not a good idea. |

I'd love to have one if only it wasn't so bloody huge in size! Considering the 3597 at the moment. Just a shame that one probably doesn't have a camera input. |

I had until last week end a Garmin Street pilot 11 that I bought quiet a few years ago, while cleaning it I dropped and stood on the Sim card which are now not replaceable. I had a look in Halfords and found a Garmin nuvi 2458 LMT-D which came with 12v charger and screen nmount.
It appears OK but I have yet to use it anger but will do this week on the North Yorkshire Moors. |

I have a 5" & upsized to 7" deliberately! Easier to read for image size when approaching junctions, lane decisions etc. Tis big on a Defender screen, I'll admit. Resolution same as for smaller screens so less sharpness. Playing around, I found you can choose not to ignore unpaved roads Not seen that offered as an option before. Be using mine all day tomorrow on the way to, over Exmoor, & back home. Last year my 5" was used. Fine until roadworks on the A38 going home made instant diversion decisions risky. I pulled over in the end to reset with waypoints etc.
Hope you enjoy yours, maye we've started a D2 trend. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender |

I've been so busy recently, I totally forgot to order it, I had been waiting for it since last September. The US model came out jan/feb but Europe had to wait. Looking forward to the hand free phone functionality (for receiving calls) are you planning on using the reversing camera functionality ? |

For what it's worth, I have a 2595 at the moment. Maybe a 130 has less isolation, but handsfree with the Garmin is pretty useless unless I slow down to 50 mph.

Agree with the surprisingly weak signal of the Garmins for hands free phoning. My wife has the recent 3590LMT in her car, and the bluetooth signal is not good at all via the speaker built into the cradle. To the contrary, in my SVX the Garmin hands free signal is just perfect, but that is because Land Rover installed a very smart Garmin set-up with a separate dedicated behind the dash speaker. I have both a Nüvi 750 (standard SVX equipment, but no bluetooth) and now a 770 (with bluetooth) for the SVX, and both the sound and the ease of use are just perfect for navigation as well as for phoning. But again, that is thanks to Land Rover's set up here. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

GOt to look into it some more, but a camera is something I have been considering. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender |

I've been running the dezl760 for a week or so now.
I don't like the 5.3gb download that needs to be run to update the device and that it does not come with a protective carry case, but I have access to an extreeeeemly fast network, so the download was ok. There are a few wideboys on ebay trying to sell garmin carry cases for > £30, when you can buy them from Garmin for a £10. - The satnav unit itself is great. the live traffic (using dab not fm) warns of traffic on your route - this works well - Bluetooth / iphone functionality - just works (way better than the parrot radio jobbie which died and is still in it's box in the garage) - information, for example, hotels, garages ... using the touch screen, gives you more details about the place - a good sized 7" screen - and i should be able to load a gpx file (although I've not tried it yet) - looking at camera options at the moment so far 9/10 ... for the Garmin Dezl760 |

I had a Tom Tom for many years which served me very well till the mounting clip on the unit broke .. so had to choose having a dedicated sat nav or go for a multi-function tool
Chose to go along the 'small Ipad style' route and have a 7" Samsung Tab2, with built in GPS and have loaded 'Co-Pilot' onto it. (tom tom was not rated very highly for Android units) I have also loaded some free aps that let me link to the engine management readings & clear faults. It plays music & talking books to my blue tooth radio and all the normal 'wifi' stuff when needed. I've also loaded View ranger on and it worked really well during the Ten-tor event on Dartmoor. Pros- large clear easy to use screen, Blue tooth, Wifi, costs, vieritility Cons - mounted on the dash in front of the heaters means it can over heat at times... (but that will improve during the summer and also I may move the mount) Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html Elgar -TDCI(Puma) 110XS Dormobile - now sold Devon & Cornwall 4x4 Response - DC126 |

I've also considered iPad / Android tablet - but one thing I wanted was a reversing camera input, and no-one seems to have cracked that for a tablet yet...
