I got mine on Ebay. Just look around for a good one - there are usually a couple that come up. There are companies that advertise them as well. Make sure you know what you're getting though. Mk 1 was a narrow body (designed for series). Mk 2 was a wide track with a drop tailgate and drum brakes and Mk 3 had some improvements to the jockey wheel and disc brakes. Apparently there's a Mk 4 (designed for the Wolf) but I've not seen any details on it. You want either a Mk2 or preferably a Mk3.

Chassis are normally pretty good (if it's a later version it will obviously be newer) but the tubs rust quite badly.

Then just remember to change all the bulbs for 12v, change the plug from a military 12 pin to a civi 7 pin and get a NATO hitch to pull it.

I paid around £400 all in for my Mk3 + tonneau + NATO + duckboards. It's in very good shape. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

Mick Hucknall!
As Mick Hucknall once sang Money's Too Tight To Mention!

Despite this my other half shelled out the princely sum of £2:80 and bought me a Defender2.net sticker.

Bling bling;- Laughing

It took me over 6 months to find me mine. It is a Narrow track that had been completely stripped, and then re-built like new with a lockable top and sprayed in a close match to Gallway green. I found it in the back of a Landy mag and paid £350. A basic scabby sanky will set you back abut £300-400, and then you will need to strip and re-build and paint it on top of that. All I need to do now is moddify the lid (tidy it up/ chequer plate) and get the same whees as my 110 on it.

How she looks now- picture the seller sent me

As above the Narrow track is a little smaller than the 2 and 3 and has no tailgate (doesn't bother me as I have never used a tailgate on a sankey over the past 12 years).

The Mk4 doesn't exist. They have bought a Penman 1 ton trailer in to replace the sankeys.

Clean and Tidy!
Looks a very clean and tidy example! There are several sat on pallets in the vicinity of where I work but they're in a very sorry state! Just out of curiosity does anybody know what the load weight capacity of a Sanky is? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Fitted New Wingtop Vents.
Today I fitted new Bearmach KBX Wingtop Vents - blingety bling! One minor beef - Bearmach supplied all stainless screws (14 of them) to fit them! Result I thought, 'forward thinking' or what? Bummer is with chequerplate fitted the bl00dy fixings aren't long enough!
Banging Head
Quick trip to Crescent motorcycles just up the road for some stainless screws - No joy!
Idea
Good old B & Q for some 5x40mm stainless cross heads - Result!
Thumbs Up
Before anyone asks (I wondered!) the second vent is 'to improve engine compartment cooling!'
For someone with a mild case of OCD it balances up the look of the vehicle and they are sold in pairs only!

Functionality?
Supposedly improves heater efficiency and engine compartment cooling! Mind you when we had the snow I had quite a bit go down the air inlet when I cleaned it off! Should prevent that a little should the weather get that bad again. Mind you I'm happy with the improved look on it's own, anything else is just a bonus!
