Northumberland
Today was a bit of an epic outing with PDH. Otterburn and Kielder area.

Conditions: Snow (often deep, too deep)

Recovery Items Used: Winches x2, KERR, Tow Rope and the trusty spade.

No. of times Stuck: Enough to use everything in the recovery arsenal and a couple of hours effort.

Awesome.

Who won the prize for getting stuck the most: that'll be me Whistle ...so lunch was on me Thumbs Up

How could such an innocent looking stream be sooooooooooo DEEP....to the naked eye, it was a shallow bubbling brook....to the front wheels of the 110 it was a bottomless pit that tried to eat her Embarassed
farmer thought it was funny......"so..you didnt make it across the stream then lads! Wink "

Great day...hours of fun Thumbs Up

Got Stuck Several times
Went out for a ride round a few lanes, the one I wanted wasn't open so on the way to another travelling out of Bransdale to Helmsley , beautiful day happy to be out and enjoying myself. The road still had well frozen snow on it but a tractor had been along so I carried on. Stopped to let the dogs out, fatal mistake couldn't set of again diffs well buried, so after and hour digging rock hard snow, loaded
up the dogs and set off again got twenty yards then completely bellied out. Set about digging again but this time all four wheels where off the ground Big Cry , broke the handle off my shovel, swore a lot, ran out the winch and hammered in my anchor pin and with a bit of judicious left foot braking Whistle mamaged to get a further 20 yards Big Cry With my trusty broken Censored shovel I once again laid under the Censored car, swore at the dogs for licking me, wished I hadn't come down the road. By now I wa sgetting a tad Censored wet and cold, but got the diffs clear, ran out my winch ans secured to my useless anchor pin, tried pulling first just bent me pin Big Cry did abit more digging and was just about to set off again and hopefully get enough momentum to carry on to the distant clear road when a gamekeeper came up the track in his isuzu pick up and bellied it 100yds down from me Thud He walked up and said you'll never get down there it's even worse, red rag bull, Took her out of Lo box into second and wellied it went down the road like a demented bob sleigh and stopped on a grippy bit just in front of his truck. Tried to pull him onto the same bit but just dragged my Defender down the road Big Cry more effing digging and a pul, lent him some ropes as his mate turned up and we got him clear, I've never been happier to see the black stuff.

Better land anchor and an 8" lift needed : Rolling with laughter bloody knackered and going have some wine for medicinal reasons Thumbs Up

You're right, miles from anywhrere on a road no one uses, no phone signal, good recovery in the end lessons learnt as well.

Anyway look what I found in a Ditch

We where out today doing a few lane recce's went along this one but decided that if we ended up in the left hand tractor rut we would do some serious scraping on the gorse bushes that lined the track further up and having been there before Rolling with laughter I new you can't get out of the rut. So I says "Lets reverse back out only 200yds", unfortunatley Flinty found his way into the rut Rolling with laughter well buried on the other side half way up the door. Anchored the Defender by the winch to a small tree and he pulled himself out, Thumbs Up Greenlanings Always better with two vehicles Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

I was going to ask if he had a winch on the passenger seat and had anchored the cable through the sun roof to the top of the telegraph pole.

Parked in Morrisons and some c Censored t reversed into me and drove off. Obviously I was inside and therfore didn't even know it had happened. Evil or Very Mad

Been quoted £300 for labour only, it needs a new rear panel (the one the numberplate sits on).

Don't really want to claim on my insurance and loose my no claims. Big Cry

Any ideas, advice or knowledge of any decent body repairers in the Hants/Surrey area!

Cheers

Ian
