I've just got a Durite split charge relay in mine. It's the cheapest way I've found, and works perfectly well!
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DURITE-SPLIT-CHA...0120726102 Mine cost me a damn site less than that, so if you want one give me a shout as I've got one here that I haven't used. An engine to TDi for! "Land Rover- Proudly turning drivers into mechanics since 1948" |

I bought mine from X-eng, good quality, simple fitting instructions

Diode blockers are the best but they do restrict the battery to about 80% max charge.

There are many different ways of charging two batteries.
Basically you have to decide what features YOU want from a two battery set up. Remember that the prime use of a car battery system is to start the car engine. If you can not start the car engine it might be awkward, might leave you up the creek without a paddle or even threaten your life! Three types of batteries: 1) Starter battery 2) Leisure battery 3) Combined starter/leisure battery. We would normally suggest two combined starter/leisure batteries. A few questions for you. Do you want a completely separate starter battery and leisure battery set up? Do you want to cut into vehicle existing wiring? Do you want the ability to join both batteries for winching purposes? Do you want the ability to start the vehicle off the second battery? Do you want a dual voltmeter? For myself, I want the ability to start the vehicle off the second battery which means starter/leisure battery. Also I want the ability to combine batteries for winching. That means a big relay I would suggest looking at some of the Blue Sea relays or the IBS system. None of these involve cutting into existing wiring. Downside of them is they are more expensive then other means of just charging two batteries. Brendan |

The Tombraider 90 had a National Luna split charge system on it when I bought it complete with a monitor / control unit. Worked very well and an alarm if there was a problem.
I took it off when I sold it and will fit it to the 110 at some point. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

i have the same as Russ, fitted for about a year now, no issues, just works. i did not see the need for fancy gauges or rows of leds telling me there was electricity in my batteries. there's a simple carling rocker that tells me all i need to know. paired mine up with odyssey pc1500s and a devon44 tray
