I use a hannibal rack on my 110, with maggiolina permanently fitted - have never had any problems at all, including pounding in Morocco. The whole lot stays on all the time because I don't have the luxury of a workshop/crane to get it off. Tony

tried my autohome AirTop for the first time on the L2B ... fantastic (except for someone wobbling the truck at 06;00)

mattress comfy, plenty of space and storage pockets and the LED reading lights are great

one problem, the clips to open / close the tent, these are being replaced with protex clips (cheers Yobbie)

Phew...just got through reading the whole thread.

There's some real food for thought and some very good nuggets of information that should help others (myself included) make the right decisions in the future Thumbs Up

Just while I think about it. Can anyone tell me if you can fit a fold out style roof tent onto a Patriot roofrack whilst it is fitted to a vehicle? Just thinking it would be pretty heavy trying to get the whole lot up onto the roof with tent and roofrack joined together.

Also, has anyone been on either the Pride of Rotterdam or Pride of Hull (both North Sea Ferries from Hull) using the car deck with a roof tent fitted? (the car deck being accessed from the side of the vessel?) Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

Unless your arms/wrists are thinner then thin you may well struggle to fit a roof tent on a Patriot rack whilst on the vehicle.

I tend to undo ladder and rack claps then lift back of rack up a few inches so I can get my hands underneath.

When we have travelled on Hull Rotterdam route in black 110 with either tent or oztent on we have been put in with lorries. With the 90 ( nothing on roof) they put us on car deck. Height barrier was either 2.4 or 2.5m.

I had the same problem, but solved it with a 90 degree extended screwdriver with an adapted 13m socket to get the "feel" of the nut then tightened up with a low profile socket... simples Mr. Green

Thanks for the replies - I was on the car deck last year, but without a roof tent, but there were some fairly high 'high roof' vans on too. I guess its probably better on the lorry deck then. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

Last time on the Rotterdam ferry we were in the 90 and on the car deck and definitely suffered from lack of beer carrying space on the return leg. Previous trip was in the 110. I wondered if ther was a cost difference between the two and checked it out today for future reference. I was surprised to find it does not make a difference whether it is a 90 110 or even a eurobox, they all seem to be charged the same. I suppose hey make their money in other ways.

Thanks, rather not drill, might try clamping some unistrut to the slats - don't suppose you know centres of fixings?

I know this is a pretty old post, but did you find a solution? I'm facing the same issue; brand new Patriot roof rack and an Autohome Airtop roof tent. Width of tent fixing bolt centres is about 621mm and can't get a suitable gap between the slats to bolt to something like unistrut underneath Confused

Not the same thing, but I have just used Tentbox fixings on mine, so they wrap around the bars.

I have a 110 with a Mekik Osaka and a Disco 5 with a Ventura XL Hard Shell. Both have these style of wrap around fixings. https://tentbox.com/products/fixing-bracke...2221339837

I swapped for the Tentbox on the Disco as the Ventura ones are a sheet of steel with 2 holes drilled in. Both have been ok in terms of fixing up until now. Might look to part ways with the Ventura soon mind you, as I dont need 2, and the one that came with my 110 has the ability to create a "porch" with the doors and those stick things.

Yeah, I've seen that type of kit. I have those, just need something to attached them to. I think drilling holes in the slats (slats run front to back on Patriot racks) is the only way to do it but Paul Hogarth (Patriot maker) reckons I should be able to do it without drilling Exclamation
