200bhp 2.4 Puma - done!
After a few weeks of testing - and finally a long afternoon/night on the rolling road...

My 2.4 Defender Puma has broken the 200bhp barrier... we logged 201bhp and 547Nm at the flywheel (just over 152bhp and 416Nm at the wheels) - not bad for a transit powered Defender!

Torque is still the more important number - but BHP is good for Pub Chat!

Towards the end of the night, we were struggling to keep the dyno room temperature down - but we still managed to get over the 200bhp barrier repeatedly. At one point, we were upto 560Nm - but this has been capped down to 540Nm.

The slight dips in torque have been ironed out...

No smoke, no excessive EGT, No silly boost pressure - and a noise from the exhaust that sounds like no other trans'fender. And the difference from last time it ran (176bhp and 513Nm) is like night and day.

All bolt on adaptations - the base engine is still standard.

This is not your generic lets wind up the Pulsewidth type map. Wink

Time to start winding people up at the lights I think.

The 'IRB540 supersport' conversion consists of:

Matched intercooler,
Uprated dirty and clean air pipework - matched to mods to air box,
Special build turbo (unique to IRB),
Matched Exhaust system (there are few choices dependant on customer requirement),
Modified Intake into inlet manifold,
IRB540ss Calibration,
And a few other bits and pieces.

This is only available as a full kit (fitment at my workshop only).

I'm still finishing off pricing - but the full kit (supplied and fitted) will be 'around' £4600 + vat.

Advice will also be given on brake and suspension choice - as this conversion would be dangerous with the wrong vehicle set up.

How is it going.... faster than 2.4 Wink

I've shown the capability of the 2.4, so its all systems go on the 2.2 again.... oh, and my special build Defender.
