After reading 2 similar stories on other forums, I'm going to start with putting some grease in the swivel housings to see if it fixes/changes it.

As I've not got any One Shot Sachets to hand could I substitute it with 80/90 Gear oil or 00 Grease?

If this does indeed cure it, I'll probably strip down and rebuild with new CV joints anyway.

Oh and the plug is 1/2 inch square isn't it? Hope so, as I know I've got one of those! Craig Rogers

Cheers James,

Also found this in the workshop manual;

54. NOTE: On later vehicles fill swivel pin housing with 0.33 Litres of Molytex EP 00 grease.

Thumbs Up Craig Rogers

FIXED! Mr. Green

Took the filler plug out of the Swivel Housing and popped a cable tie in as a dip stick and although there seemed plenty of grease in there, I added a bit of 80/90 Diff Oil in there. No more noise! Thumbs Up

The swivel doesn't have excessive amount of grease/oil coming out but I suppose 78k miles later and enough to be too dry. As a matter of course I'm going to replace both CVs and all seals.

Once again, a big Bow down to you all for your advice! Craig Rogers

I'm going to monitor them for the next few days to see if any of the oil comes out.

Could be the placebo effect but steering feels lighter and seems to roll better since. Craig Rogers

I had the exact same noise, if you look back through my previous posts you may find the thread from last year some time.

I was advised to change the brass thrust washer in the hub as this affects the float of the drive shaft within. It solved it instantly and only cost a few quid in parts and an hour or 2 in labour. 2005 110 TD5 XS running Alive Stage 1 and a bit and other toys

in the end of the stub? can be cheaper to just change the whole stub sometimes if your paying for labour. Cheers

If you buy a CV kit, you get the brass washer included. Craig Rogers
