Puma to Range Rover Sport
Hi

I am really not getting on with my PUMA 90

I love the character and the looks of the car but I am really not using its off road ability, the only off road work I do is Waitrose car park!!.

I also don't find it that practical insofar as the poor fuel consumption and I struggle to get gear in the back despite removing the rear seats, I find the engine very harsh and unwilling although it did soften slightly after it hit 5k miles.

I think I need something a little more quiet and comfortable

I am seriously thinking of off loading for a RRS or sadly, I could go really boring and go AUDI A3 or Volvo XC60!!

Any thoughts on Puma to RRS?

there's a new sport coming out soon... so existing prices may drop

if you're not needing so much space, have a look at an evoke, good residuals and very well made.

and if you are thinking of going off-marque .. try a Q5 S-Line

Nearly did that myself. Great bits of kit the sports can do everything a defender can but in comfort.

With what you say about the defender the sport would solve those problems. But they do use more fuel. I find the defender cheap to run against the discovery.

If you were looking at an xc I'd go freelander instead. The xc is no where near as good as sport. The new freelander gives you good fuel economy and there still a big car.

Have ran RRS's along side the 110's,,

Great vehicle,, as said, will do just about all the defender will do, but in great comfort ,
The full Range Rover is even better, hence the daily driver Very Happy Best choice,, 2010MY 3.0 TDV6 RRS great engine

In diesel form, all the 2.7 /3.0 RRS have been better on the fuel than the 110's.. the TDV8's about the same

The RRS will be dearer in service costs etc !

The evoke will never be a proper Range Rover,, and is getting to be a bit "Essex" Shocked California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

Whilst my puma is is in for some minor cosmetic warranty items I've got a freelander. I have to say it is a nice car, quiet, averaging 36mpg, goes really well and is significantly more practical (I can get my kayak inside it etc). However, I have more fun with the defender and it brings a massive smile to my face.
When the puma is out of warranty I will be softening the suspension as its got heavy duty fitted now and I rarely put anything in it, this should make the ride a lot better on all the country roads around her..... Darren

I tried the sport before deciding to go for the ffrr. In comparison to the defender the vogue is much more expensive to run. Servicing is expensive, fuel economy averages 21mpg and then there are any faults that may crop up (well known for not being reliable)

However the 3.6tdv8 is a great engine and I don't think there is a 4x4 that could compete. Doesn't have the charm of a defender though. That's why I use the RR daily and am kitting the 110 out for holidays and offroad adventures.

Try a sport and then buy the proper range rover.

Using that statement Tim, how can the RRS be a proper Range Rover and less Essex than an Evoque??

+1 for the D4.

I've had several Disco's from the very first series 1 and really enjoyed them all. The latest, 61 Reg HSE, is brilliant and the most comfortable car I've driven. It does everything, from exec transport to house removals to builders van.

If I could only have 1 car, it would be a D4... Very Happy Thumbs Up

Just come from a sport . Bored me to tears. Nice car but dull is the word.
Nearly bought a vogue but the fridge was the deal breaker Very Happy
My puma can be summed up quite quickly
Its loud its clunky , the gearbox appears to have a life of its own .
But I love it .........
