Germany 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Baltic Blue
Loads left round here Whistle

Besides, I was making a comparison about the VW Beetle build quality, not about their longevity Rolling Eyes

Since you brought it up Whistle most of those 21 million Beetles were made well over 50 years ago, not in the last 50 years - the slightly daft Top Gear comparison about % numbers of "Land Rovers" still on the road probably included Defenders made up to the day before the show (and probably included Series as well)...

Incidentally, I would love to know the % of Series left on the road that were made before 1975.

I'm not saying the Series isn't a great vehicle but if you change all the parts it will keep going forever - the same is true of any car, you just have to be bothered to look after it...

Okay - last Off Topic now (apologies)...love this story. Just a poor German traffic warden doing his duty Laughing

Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Trigger's broom still worked but could hardly have been described as "original Very Happy

I sympathise with the original poster and am considering the same choice myself when I change the daily driver.

"Luxury" is a distant dream for my S2A but it's the one car I look forward to driving. 1970 Series 2A 88"

A big thumbs up Thumbs Up for the Volvo D5 engine - it's a cracker! And the Volvo (well at least my xc70) is superb build quality.

I'm also tempted by the new RR Sport:

Like a cross between the new FFRR and the Evoque. As it now shares the all-aluminium chassis with the FFRR (rather than the D4) I think it's a bargain. Having driven a new FFRR, it's awesome Very Happy Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)
