Seeing as it had stopped raining in the afternoon(Saturday) I got round to replacing the front pipe on my Td5. This is now the third in 12 months Bit of a pita but all replaced under warranty from the motor factors(next door neighbours place of employment), they've all snapped the swaged flange where the front pipe meets the middle pipe. It's annoying in the fact that there is nothing obvious in causing it to break apart from perhaps the quality of the parts which are made by Klarius, supposedly the fastest growing manufacturer of OE quality replacement automotive parts in Europe. Hmm, we shall see how long this one lasts, one thing about it, I have got the change down to 20 minutes with removing and replacing the centre crossmember

Replaced the rear brake pads on the 110.
As is always the way, I discovered a very stiff piston and a popped seal. I tried to fit a new seal but gave up in the end. Time for a new calliper! |

Had a Stage 2 remap done by Big Steve great service & picked up a VNT turbo & boost box for a mate. While the remap was being done I got a trip in The 3.2!!!!!!! It is brilliant, sounds like a proper Land Rover and has power everywhere just no roads long enough.

Yesterday we fitted our new rock sliders for the Defender 110 HCPU. The look very fine, ready constructed brackets, without drilling and damming under the car . The Body isn't modificated, it's plug & play!!!
Now they get a hot-dip galvanized zinc coating, than a professional powder coating in black. Markus [/img] |

My 110 was pressed into service as a furniture van (again!) for a trip to that cathedral of domestic servitude that is Ikea
Also decided to fill up with BP Ultimate to see if it lives up to the hype. My wallet is still hurting from the experience but I'll persevere for a couple of tankfuls before deciding. Decended a road into the village on full right lock broadside .
We've had a bit of snow overnight and came back from filling up via local back road. It looked a bit iffy from the failed climb tyre marks in the snow, so selected 1st low (no diff lock) and let it crawl down but still ended up in a slow slide down with TC chattering away. Light brush with the hedge and some grip was given by the undergrowth gave it enough to straighten up. Must get some better road/snow tyres than the BFG MTs.. 2023 110 P400e |

Mine way more prosaic than sliding down a slope!
Just spend a bit (too much) of time taking door card off so I could re-attach the door handle that had partly come off! ... |

@macduff
Out of interest why did'nt you engage diff lock. I think I would have had it engaged - or am I missing something? Going up I would have it engaged, is there a difference going down a slippery slope? Cheers BM52 |

I was in two minds on diff lock as it had appeared to be a hindrance recently on a climb in similar snow conditions, when both ends were on the limit of traction I found if one wheel spun the diff lock transfered the rise in transmission speed to the other end which also lost grip and ended up crabbing to a degree that needed it digging out to get grip back (it was on a hill with side slope that is my access lane leading to drive) . I'm not that keen on testing it just at the mo but given the result without difflock I'll probably have it in for the next decent that has a similar conditions (of slippery snow/ice) . Ps just been to the LR experience at skipton where descents and climbs were a piece of cake with difflock low 1st though it was soo dry it was almost hard backed dusty and the instructor advised the MTs werent that good in snow and I should think about the Crosscontact ATs their cars had on as they had found they were pretty unstoppable (at the skipton site) as long as ground clearance was maintained. 2023 110 P400e

Will look forward installing what I just received...
...from a very good friend (I wonder where he found it !) As it's blank I'm tempted to have it engraved with the truck's name ...and from LR Series Chris |
