i've got it all ordered up now... rather excited to see if it comes close to a decent system, im not expecting my fathers bang olufsen system but would it come anywhere near to a factory install on say something like a golf? or is it just not happening in a defender...?

ethanicus- slightly off topic but I could have an Alpine active sub for sale. Its about 18 months old, as new with box instructions etc- Its a 1000 not a 1200 though, but I believe they are similar. Pm me if your interested not after silly money, £70 ish

Unscrew and disconnect that speaker, if error message disappears then you have got something wrong I would suggest

Try swapping with the speaker on the right hand side, if error message swaps to the right then the speaker is faulty, if it is OK on the right and the replacement speaker wont work on the left then wiring is the problem

Check the polarities and the crossover. Sometime the + and - and wires with different size connectors get messed up. Stab in the dark would be the crossover wired back to front- ie tweeter receiving mid, and the mid receiving the high freq.
