Yes and no!
The camera broadcasts a WiFi signal. The Remote and/or the iPhone/Android connects to the camera's WiFi signal. When you connect your phone to a WiFi, you see WiFi connections, the camera appears in there and you attach just like any other WiFi connection. So in effect, the camera becomes a Hot Spot of which you put a password in there to stop anyone else connecting to it. The remote is easier as you just "pair" them together. The great thing with the GoPro is that you can power off and on with the remote (or App) as the WiFi can be left on when the camera is turned off. For instance, if you have the camera mounted outside of the Landy, you can turn it off when not using it and then power it back up when you need to. It means you don't need to keep stopping to get out to turn it off and on. Craig Rogers 2007 Puma 110 XS 2011 Evoque Coupe Dynamic Lux www.craigrogers.photography |

No there isn't. Something to do with it default recording to 1440p and not being compatible with TV's? But surely the other settings are OK?

Perhaps not the best worded post of mine. I was referring to DT's post about the issues he's been having with the Bllack. And wishing he'd stayed with the silver 110 D250 SE HT

I haven't got much patience with computers, or tech know how, so loading stuff up, editing and down/up loading drives me mad. I have learnt to plug the GoPro in and go do other stuff whilst it downloads though.
We need sell all our computers, iMacs and stuff like that and buy Cyberdyne Systems |

The default is 1080, no need to go from that really unless your a broadcaster, but again, even they shouldn't have a need for it. Craig Rogers

His thread is here http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic89539.html If I understand correctly, his frustration is that the Black has a higher quality recording option thats not compatible with todays computers/TV's. I do like reading his posts though, I just wish I had his spare time and disposable income He finds some brilliant gadgets to buy. |

Just goes to show that you need to do your research and not just "get stuff cause it's cool".
I'm pretty sure that 1080 is the default, but I'm guessing he's ramped it up thinking it's going to give him a better quality recording. Well, yes, it will, but you're not going to be able to view it directly back on a TV, unless you've managed to get a Mega-super-HD set widely available in Japan. Not many standard laptop/PCs will be able to play that resolution either. As I think I mentioned earlier in the thread, there is no point in recording anything higher than 1080. If you want to burn to Blu-ray, then 1080 is the max, if you want to view on your TV, 1080 is the max, if you want to upload to the internet, 1080 is the max (all currently). Therefore, the guy is just bitching at his own lack of knowledge in the world of video and not the capabilities of the camera. Also, if he simply got hold of a converter, even the free GoPro Cineform, then all's not lost as he can convert them down to 1080, however, again everytime you convert, you lose quality. Bung it on 1080 and have done with it. I've not even tried anything bigger as I know I'm asking for trouble. People will then say that the Black is not worth the extra. Well, it's 1080 can record in 60fps, perfect if you want to do some slomo work. It also captures 30fps in camera still mode, the other 2 can't do that. However, it comes with the Remote included, which when you put that on top of the Silver version then there's little in the price. The thing with video, is that you have to be patient if you want to post-edit, even if you have a high spec PC. I've got a PC that all I do is edit photos and videos, it's a pretty high spec (6 core AMD, 8gb ram, Firepro V4900 Pro graphics card) and even with that I need to learn patience. EDIT: I've now gone back and had a good read of his rants. He seriously doesn't understand what he's trying to discuss.......... He's just quoting numbers without understanding them. I think that's called future proofing! It'll be fully compatible with the next tv that comes along 1080 is pretty good so use that setting until a better tv comes out.
