But you should have removed those 2 nuts and threaded pins on one side of the latch plate and then just "slide out" the latch plate Whistle

We tried that, but the pins would not come out, we tried both sides. Oh well, now I know Rolling Eyes --

Just thought of this now - should I ask BAS for a new map with the intercooler? --

I asked Elton in SA about this after I got mine and he said his maps are written with an intercooler in mind. At first I thought that sounded a bit weird.....

but

When I had his map without intercooler it was good but when I got the intercooler, that same map suddenly felt SO MUCH better???

Point is...I do not think you will need a new map?

But asking is for free...........

Yep, BAS said the same thing. All I can say is, with the intercooler the truck just pulls and pulls, and whereas before I had a flat spot in 6th, now it just keeps going Thumbs Up --

Might I ask how much it was?

Am quite interested in doing the same especially as there's still no map available for the 2.2.

Thanks in advance.

For me in South Africa it was expensive due to exchange rate, but check prices with BAS. You are looking at around 420 pounds. --

Those of you interested in the difference between OEM & Allisport. see this thread on 4x4community about a comparison of standard vs upgraded intercooler: http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/showth...amp;page=4 --

Greetings,

What did you do with the hoses if I may ask? Did you swap for silicone ones? And hose clamps? I have seen somewhere clamps that don't seem to cut that much into the material.

This might sound a bit over the top probably, but once I'm at it, I might just as well do that, too, if it's recommended.

Cheers
Boris

Boris, I used the same hoses. Had I known what a mission this would be, I would have also gone for silicon hoses. --

Thanks Naks,
It's probably sensible then to swap the hoses in one go with the intercooler. So another hundred quid more ... Big Cry

its a wee bit chilly outside at the moment.....(just been looking around under the bonnet and under the car - so I know)

and it made me wonder if the IC upgrade would be a backwards step in cold climates / this time of year in the UK ?

Well, it definitely drives better these days with minus 8 degrees around here. Pulls better and more smoothly, i think.

Yeah, for you UK guys a bigger intercooler is a bit wasted. I mean, you people think a few days of 25C eather constitutes a heat wave Rolling with laughter

Anyway, some more feedback on the intercooler after the landy spent a week at the stealer for a new clutch:

1. Lower EGTs allround, esp when going uphill
2. A small flat spot in 6th that used to prevent me from shifting into 6th on long uplhills is now gone
3. The landy just pulls and pulls and pulls, more noticeable on long uphills --
