Why thankyou Thumbs Up . Must admit i had a bit of a headstart because almost every nut and bolt has been undone in the last 6 months so not too many rounded rusted siezed bolts Thumbs Up

Now the chassis is done its time to start on the bodywork Rolling Eyes . Picked up a reasonably good back body from a mate who is building a trayback. So spent a couple of hours rubbing it down and making an access hatch for the fuel sender and removed the cappings for blasting and galvanising Thumbs Up

Hi Paul,

Love the chassis swap pictures, very interesting.

Do you think it is possible to cut the access hole for the fuel pump with everything in situ ? If yes and you have time then some measurements would be gratefully received. Smile

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks Steve, i would think it would be possible to cut a hole in situ if you are very careful not to go through too far. Dont know how accurate my measuring is until i get the new body on my car Embarassed . May well have missed the target completely? Mr. Green

Ha ha, hopefully you measured more than once Very Happy best of luck.

Yes, I understand it is close to the fuel pipes. Must resist from using the 12" disc cutter Laughing

Measured??? is that a posh way of saying "guessed"?. Yep try to resist using a stihl saw with a 12" blade, unless you want a perfectly square hole in the top of your tank too Mr. Green

Marsie - You say you've done a few D2 axle conversions to Defenders, can I ask if you think it'd be viable to either A) Convert a 2003 110 Rear axle to take D2 air springs, or B) convert a 2003 110 Defender to D2 axles. I would need to retain standard components as far as possible, and do not need to run any oversized tyres.

Cant see why not. You may need to weld D2 type spring plates to the axle but the rear spring seats are interchangeable (bit deeper on d2) and then find someway of mounting height sensors etc. Also the chassis spring seat would need work- inner spring locator ground back and top drilled to secure airbag

Personally i would'nt fit a d2 axle to a 110 due to the weight issues. But no reason why you could'nt mod the salisbury?? 2000 90 TD5,galv chassis, d2 axles ,Bas remap , alisport intercooler , d2 transfer box , side windows-more to come-much more!! *GONE*
