Does anyone know how to find the ecu number? my ecu hase no stickers on it atall!! Is it woth buying an msb ecu from here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Disco...1e74f60e7d He seems to suggest plug and play. Want to also order some form of diagnostics for the abs tc problems but if the ecu is disco not defender then i guess the diagnostics wont read properly.
Sorry for all the questions. I hope one day to be able to provide others with help, untill then i will sit in the corner with me dunce cap on!!

Have you unbolted the ECU and looked underneath, quite often the stickers are hidden there.

The sticker on mine is actually on the top and it is just readable !

I would guess that if there are no identifying numbers then you will need to get it on diags to find out.

MSB0000080 is an early Td5 Defender ECU.

I'm sure it will still need to be paired with your AS10 in order to start.

well i said i would let you no how it went. Ecu turned up, plugged it in and all is well!! i now have a normal temp guage and also the fuel guage seems to work. Quit a Loss in power though but so much smoother to drive. it was so jerky before almost impossible to drive at lower speeds in low gears. Just did a varied 30mile drive and al is good. So it is indeed plug and play for others who want to no. thanks again for all the help. Now to sort out my asb tc intermittent fault. Time for a hawkeye me thinks.

To be honest I don't think the alarm worked when I bought it so I can't really say but probably not.
I do wish I went for the nnn ecu he was selling as I miss the grunt that my old ecu gave me. Faint oil in the loom aswell so I'm going to try the method of filling the plug with grease so the oil cannot pass into the ECU. Oh land rovers' so much to do to them so little time!!
