My turbo is still original and I would put the extra torque on mine down to the decat, middle box out and mainly on the remap. Towing right on the 3.5t limit(2.7t mini digger on plant trailer plus buckets and mud) mine towed it well. A standing start on an incline was better in low range but level pull aways at junctions was comfortable in high box. I felt it towed that set up as well as it towed the same type of trailer empty with no remap.
When it was remapped the MAF had to be renewed(surprise surprise) and it hadn't seen anyone to upgrade odd things on the electrickery bits since it left the factory 6 years previously even though it was supposed to have dealer servicing. It is ex-police and they sent it to a main stealer once a year for the main services, I doubt whether it actually saw the inside of the workshops at the dealers, it's not like your own motor where as the driver/owner you'd notice! |

thanks for your reply , I have changed to the decat and removed the middle box plus installed a large intercooler so I'm now looking at what mapping is the best to go for re performance and reliability in the long run . So any specific info re the mapping would be appriciated ... Postmanpat |

Regarding turbo reliability, on the over 100 units i have sold i have only ever had 1 failed unit. This was infact due to a map that was already on the car that was not working correctly as well as the customer who decided to change the actuator postion as they thought increasing the vane angle would help
All out turbos come with 1 years TT warranty on faulty parts. Pete |

I think all you have left to modify is a remap and turbo.

You have three choices...
1. Go for stage II remap and stick with that. 2. Do a deal with one of the suppliers that you go for stage II remap to try it out. If ok stick, if you want more go back and get a VGT turbo with a corresponding remap and they only charge for one remap and labour to do 2nd remap. 3. Go straight to VGT turbo and remap to suit. As for where, you've already been recommended two of the best, but you can try others. Oh there's a 4th choice, do nothing Cheers Steve |

My first problem was leakage around the turbine housing. Exactly the same as experienced by this person: The second has been a failure of the vanes (with no change in the position of the actuator) However the 1 year warranty has covered. I guess I must have been unlucky if you have had only 100:1 with a problem. |
