Garmin Nuvi 2515 only had it a few weeks.
I like Garmin partly because if I have a problem I can take it to Southampton and it can be sorted face to face. I had a software failure a couple of years ago and the unit was replaced with a better model without any quibble. I also use google maps on my HTC and it is not unusual for each device to offer a different route ! I have to say that Sat Nav is only an aid and should not be relied upon as the only navigation aid 3 days ago one of our drivers went through a ford following his Sat Nav . I'm still waiting to see what Garmin release for Christmas and/or their 2013 range. Got my eye on a DAB traffic version (760)

CoPilot Live for the iPhone - very fast, maps for everywhere & traffic updates/re-routing. Only thing that slightly lets it down is its instructions for anything more than a simple junction - have taken one or two wrong turns as a result (particularly in France).
Did have a new Freelander as a hire car recently (and apart from being wholly underwhelmed generally), the LR Sat Nav is absolutely atrocious... |

Jeremy, do you know if that is a software upgrade only or is it new hardware? If the former, can it be used to upgrade older models? Darren

I use the navmii iPhone app. It does the job at least as well as our old Garmin Nuvi (which is now woefully out of date and we don't want to fork out for upgrade).
I use Google maps for journey planning but I often find that my chosen route getting to a particular town or city often differs from the Sat Nav's suggestion. So I tend to get to the place using a list of roads and junction numbers on a post-it note on the dash, with the Sat Nav as back up for any diversions, plus for turn-by-turn once I'm in the town/city to find my actual destination. I also use Google Street View a lot as it helps to know what a place looks like - what the road layout is like at the junction etc - so it is easier to spot when you get there - eg. chevrons down the middle, bollards, fish and chip shop on the right, pub on the left, etc. Also useful for checking out possible parking issues - is there on-road parking or double yellows, etc.... We also use Memory Map on the iPad when we are just mooching around for fun or green laning. It is great to do some proper map reading to get us off the beaten track a bit and use back roads rather than main roads, plus at the same time, unlike with paper maps, the GPS letting you know exactly where you rather than having to guess / calculate! I'm using same set-up as Brewstop.
IPhone and iPad have both TomTom and ViewRanger. I've also got a MemoryMap Adventurer 3500 but it gets rarely used as I find the whole compatibility issue and transferring maps to it from a Mac a real pain in the rear. On the motorbike I've got a TomTom rider pro which is a real giggle as it will included off road sections in route planning, great for my KTM 990 Adventure not so sure if I was on a sports bike though |

Evening all.
I use the Navfree app on the iPad. Seems to work and I have Stephen Fry to tell me where to go, tastefully of course. Actually, Navfree is a misnomer as I've paid a few quid to get the ad free version but you can also add other countries for £1.99. Will be trying it in Denmark in a few weeks. Nightingale. |

Garmin Nüvi 750. Came standard with the SVX and works like a gem for 4 years already. At the time bought the lifetime maps for it for something like $100,00 so every 3 months I download fully updated European maps. Land Rover did a good job here as to quality of installation, keeping electric cabling out of sight, and sound quality is perfect too with a dedicated aux speaker invisibly hidden behind the dash. Triple AAA
It is now a 4 year old model, and if I compare it with the recent Nüvi 3590 LMT of my wife, I still like the old one equally well.
The only thing which I did recently was order a brand new 770 from Amazon USA (Garmin discontinued the 7xx series years ago), which is different from the 750 by having full USA maps additional to the European maps, and bluetooth. The 770 and 750 are the same model and fit the same cradle as came standard with the SVX, but is a bit higher end finish (black housing with a alu ring, while the 750 is grey as in the picture below). No don't know why but when I drive the Defender I rarely go above 60, but when I get on my bike (2011 Yamaha R1) I can't help but go fast |
