Just heard back from Martin regarding purchase and delivery of the Defender headlight relay loom. They can deliver to UK but there was a fault on the website so all looks good.

Purchase and delivery of wiring loom only to South Wales. My switch is fine, at the moment. This is a preventative action.

Just ordered mine - luckily if I pronounce Dutch words out loud with a sort of drunken accent, I can somehow understand most of them as a German/English mess

Ordered Monday night. Arrived today. Cannot ask for better service. The loom is fairly self explanatory. 1-to earth, 2- to battery lead on alternator. 3 & 4 to headlamp nearest alternator, 5 - to other headlamp. It would appear the difficult parts are connecting to the back of the alternator and feeding the connectors into the wings. Not sure where to run the cable across the engine bay tidily. Can't look at the moment as it is bucketing down and blowing a gale outside. Anyway if anyone has any tips on making this an easy installation then do post.
Does seem extremely well made. Very good service. LANDYWATCH

For those interested in this relay headlight loom here are the fitting instructions in English kindly provided by Martin, the propriteor.
The label coding: 1. Ground connection (-) This ring lug must be properly connected to a metal part of the vehicle. An existing bolt connection in the immediate vicinity of the headlights is sufficient. 2. Connection of power supply (+) This ring lug has to be mounted on the positive terminal of the alternator. Be careful with metal tools, it is recommended to first disconnect the positive terminal of the battery. 3. Control connector This male connector goes in one of the old headlight connectors. This former power feed becomes now the signal for the headlight relay in this cable loom. 4. headlight connector This connector replaces the existing headlight connector, there is no difference between left and right. 5. headlight connector This connector replaces the existing headlight connector, there is no difference between left and right. Hi,
nice upgrade. May I ask where the relays are supposed to be mounted? Somewhere close to the lights? Canīt find that information on their page. And as I am not with my car at the moment, the connection at the alternator is easily accesible? Thanks Oskar |

Hope to fit mine sometime in the next few weeks so will post pictures then. Should be fitted to the wing on the alternator/turbo side of the engine.

THough not exactly the same loom (I have the Swedish version), I mounted the relays on a bracket in the left wing. Also used some self-vulcanising tape to protect the relays and connectors from the elements. The alternator connection was easily accessible, just remove the back plate on the alternator to see the connections. Note: This is for the 300 Tdi motor.

Matt if you do go for the JW headlights and get them before you fit the loom don't bother fitting it you'll not need it as the load through the switch is significantly reduced. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Got the wiring all laid in and the relay block mounted and the earth fixed. Next the alternator and then the headlamp connections. BUT it's raining ++++++
 and blowing a gale here so will have to wait. I think the alternator on the tdci is a little more problematic than yours on the 300 VeeTee, but hopefully won't take too long. Have tried to get a photo of the connections on the rear of the alternator, does anyone have one, but the ones on the www aren't that good. We shall see. LANDYWATCH
