Does anyone know what has happened to Defendoor and the rear 6x9 speaker housing they used to sell? Went to buy a pair today and they are gone. Or am I getting my manufacturers mixed up? ===================================

No you are right they did do them and I too noticed they were no longer on the site just the other day. Probably some on E-bay though?... KEEP CALM AND Drill ON

Not sure if BoB do them now either. At one time you couldn't get away from seeing those enclosures now I don't see them much..
Currently I am SERIOUSLY interested in looking at some aftermarket tweeters from either Kenwood or Kicker but I can't make my mind up which to go for.... Kenwoods is a more sensible price and power but the Kickers are more expensive but MUCH more powerful. Both look good though. I currently have all four speakers and HU from Kenwood but Amp & Sub from Kicker. Hmmm Decisions. It doesn't help the fact that most decent suppliers are all USA based and over here there is a limited crappy range. P.s. Anyone know the tweeter aperture (hole size) on the Puma I'm guessing 1" ? Does anyone have any thoughts on the best bluetooth handsfree kits. I know some have bought Parrot but have they stood the test of time? Would a bluetooth headunit be better?

If you have a standard LR radio then the Parrot is probably a good option due to it being stand alone (heard good things about them)
However if you have an aftermarket HU then I would always go for BT on that so that you have everything in place. Ideally with an external mic and not built in as I've heard due to the Defender being what it is noise wise it not working to well. Depending on your HU make they are not always cheap. The add on for mine although very good is £99! A lot IMO but we are talking premium branded items and works with a DVD HU as well along with text messaging and BT music streaming and phonebooks on screen and much more.. The Kenwood HU that I have just bought has bluetooth built-in and it is a Parrot BT system that is built-in. That came with an external mic as well. Haven't got it set up yet, so don't know how well it works, but read good reviews before buying it. The other advantage of having BT built into the HU is, as Steve says, you can stream music via BT, rather than having to have storage devices plugged in, which might be an advantage if you're interested in that sort of thing. The problem with that is that the storage device (MP3 player, iPod whatever) also has to have bluetooth, so you're basically looking at smart phones or the latest generation of MP3 players which have bluetooth built in. 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

This is the BT unit that my HU requires as a add on which as you can see isn't cheap. Powered by Parrot but Kenwood branded. Not exactly short of features either. Very good & I have seen it in action / used as I fitted one once for an ex friend (never paid me for fitting it )
As above usually they come with a mic that you can place where you think most suitable. http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/car-audio.aspx/kca-bt300-adaptor KEEP CALM AND Drill ON 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

The Parrot Evolution CK3000 looks very good, but a right hassle to install.
I'm temped by the Sony MEX-BT3000 CD Radio with Bluetooth http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...65474#tab3, as for £112 everything's there, BUT it has built in mic. I too was thinking about the Defender's noise being as problem inside. This is what i'm hunting for advice on now... |

It could well be an issue and also not inline with your voice as much as it would be in an everyday car. KEEP CALM AND Drill ON

Well, i've gone for the Parrot Evolution CK3000 and it's being fitted a week on Monday.
To save time and hassle can anyone help me: Halfords want to know whether the back of the LR radio has round or flat pins? Do standard LR radios vary? Mine's an XS version with the audio jack in the front. I suppose there's no substitute for checking. |
