Does anyone know:

Can you plug a ScanGauge2 into a Puma and if so have you found it useful in monitoring performance.

ps - just discovered this site whilst recovering from minor op - as a new and inexperienced owner its really useful.

Yes, I'm using one; I bought it originally to monitor engine fault codes that the dealer said they couldn't see (I could with the scanguage!)

Apart from that, I missed not having an external air temp that my proper car has, and the scan gauge gives that. If you tell it when you fill up and £/litre, it tells you things like cost of current journey which is quite interesting and sometimes scary. The speed readout is accurate, unlike the Defender's speedo

yes , i've been using one for some time now.. originally bought to monitor error codes whilst having a few teething problems and passing to and fro from the dealership..

all good now and I use it mainly for monitoring the live / average MPG and ensuring my journeys are a bit more economical Smile

one thing of note now I remember.. as the OBD socket sits behind the fuse panel you can't fit the scanguage plug into the socket and then close the panel again.., I just popped the socket out of it's fixing and secured them behind the front speaker.

Dito for fitting.

Very useful for coolant temp, inlet air temp, boost, fuel consumption if required. Seems to only report a DTC if it turns the MIL on and then you can clear it.

Useful:
When I holed the intercooler hose and the engine went in to Limp mode, cleared, fixed, off we went again as we were miles from anywhere.

Voltage was useful when my dual battery controller died (second battery died first) as I didn't have to lift the seat or bonnet to check if main battery was charging OK.

Speed shown on CANbus matched that on the GPS and was usually a couple of kilometres slower than the needle on the speedometer.

Annoying:
Once calibrated with fuel tank size (takes a few fills) if you only partially fill or use jerry cans then you stuff up the calibration and have to start again.

I found it useful when towing as I could drive more economically, also the being able to monitor the coolant temp and inlet air temp when its 47C, towing 1.5t and have 300miles to travel was better than the temp gauge on the dash. 110 2.4TDCi

i've removed the screw holding in the obd socket, but it seems to be held in place by the bracket it sits in, how did you remove it? also where have you guys situated the scanguage itself? i can't make my mind up

Mine sits velcrod above the steering column. It does obscure the trailer flasher though. 110 2.4TDCi

how have you managed to fix it to the obd socket so you cn close the fuse flap?

OBD plug is held on by a small Torx head bolt. I've undone this and the plug is then loose. I the force the cable through the hole and plug it on to the OBD socket. This holds everything in place and doesn't rattle loose. I can then close the cover and also it's easy to remove when I need to. 110 2.4TDCi

I put grippy velcro on the back of mine and stuck it to the carpet just above the Hi/lo selector.
